Do a little more digging and reporting next time. Jeff Yass is a billionaire donor to republicans. Most of his current wealth is tied to ownership in Bytedance, the parent company to tiktok. Even if the divestment requirement (what you label a "ban") isn't about CCP contol, I say Yass is just as bad. Do some research and form your own opinion.

Good point although a VPN only changes IP address, which isn't enough to get around the location restriction on android or apple phones. Geolocation checks happen on the device itself opposed to the server it's connected to, and so aren't spoofed by a VPN. In addition US device models and their OS versions could simply be made incompatible with tiktok. But to gain access a phone would at least need to be reconfigured to bypass the system that looks up: - the country you're in (different capability than exact GPS-based location) - Apple ID/carrier billing address - the region you're using in the settings app - type of device being used Aside from that and compatibility though, what's eligible in app stores will be firmly locked down.
