The thing is that “facts over feelings” isn’t a bad thing. Many of us, if not most, hold positions such as being pro-Union, pro socialized healthcare, etc., through facts presented to us. It’s just that their “facts” are not supported by any empirical data, nor do they care to mention ANY context.

@@Noone-rl8db My experience was this: I found Shabibo through, of course, sjw owned compilations (that got recommended to me out of nowhere, thanks youtube!) but after a short time I realised he wasn't nearly as entertaining or intelligent as those videos made him out to be. Still, even in that short time I watched him, I became really transphobic, because his commentary was my first exposure to trans issues. It took a while for me to come round on trans issues, even after I stopped watching him, which I'm ashamed of. That's why I feel so sad seeing these people who never moved on from that 2016 era.

@johnnyboy7777
@johnnyboy7777 2 жыл бұрын
@@Slavaisusukhrystu Ancaps only want to abolish the state, allowing direct and unregulated relations between working class people and capitalists. Their ideology would not abolish class. Namely, they do not want to abolish the system of capitalism that allows capitalists to exploit working class people, one that will continue to do so with or without a state. In fact, most ancaps refuse to even acknowledge the role that the bourgeois (who, in the US, are capitalists) play in lobbying the state to favor their interests over working class interests, making them the root cause of government corruption. By abolishing the state, therefore, they would only be cutting out the middleman. The true conflict exists between the bourgeois and the proletariat, the state is simply a mediator between that conflict. While true that the state is largely betraying the interests of the people in order to favor the interests of the bourgeois, abolishing the state wouldn't address that conflict. It would only get rid of what little leverage we have over capitalists through state power. Additionally, they often refuse to acknowledge the role (and necessity) of unions and worker strikes to ensure workers' rights under exploitative capitalist systems, or how allowing unregulated relations between workers and capitalists has always (and will always) result in rampant worker exploitation and abuse. In order to prevent such exploitation and abuse, there must be some level of regulation imposed on capitalists and their businesses, be it from the state or from the workers themselves. However, by allowing capitalism to take its course completely unregulated by the state, especially during an era where union membership is pathetically low, division based on class would only become exponentially wider. Some might even compare it to the system of feudalism or factory towns (like I did, before) in which there was no separation between the power of the state and the power of the bourgeois, they are simply one and the same. Don't get me wrong, I'm completely down with anarchism as a concept. However, anarchism is a leftist, anti-authoritarian movement. Ancaps are inherently right-leaning and don't seek to abolish authoritarianism at all. They just want to take the boot they believe the government wears and hand it over to capitalists so that they may exploit working class people directly, and unopposed.

No meritocracy no incentive to improve? As someone who works- it’s really hard to get less efficient if you do the same job every day. You just get better over time- almost automatically. If you need help or accommodations, and actually get them, you still improve over time. @@Zoltan1251 yeah not owning it makes no sense. Here the managers let us think we have ownership because psychologically it makes workers happy, but they still don’t give us raises based on efficiency, merit, experience, or anything. The business model in what the media calls “unskilled labor” is that it’s easier and cheaper to constantly hire new people at entry level wages than to allow anyone to move up in the company. Sure you can be a shift manger at McDonald’s but you only get a dollar or two over shift workers who make about minimum wage, which is at or below poverty level here. A retail chain doesn’t hire a CEO from a pool of store managers, but from a pool of other CEOs or government lobbyists.

@@traplover6357 I used to believe that if I made the company more profitable I would get a raise- but that hasn’t been my experience because employers and “job creators” just lie and take advantage the US Protestant work ethic. That’s my experience at huge retail stores, small businesses, and even now municipalities are leaving government services to private business. Hell, it hasn’t even been my experience that I’m treated kindly most of time! Either pay better or be kind and respectful- they don’t have to, turn-over is cheaper. Distributing profits to the employees makes no sense in capitalism, you have to hoard wealth to invest your capital into ventures that will give you the greatest return. Capitalism isn’t “the best product” it’s skewed to favor whatever the investors of capital wish. There are a few people able to operate ethically within this system, I agree with that, but I can’t stand all the suffering. I just hate it, I was lied to so much.

If anyone wonders what the moment was when I thought peterson was a clown, I watched him a little bit and thought he was a good debater, but all his opponents were student who'd never had a real debate battle in their life. the main attraction is that he talks slow and speaks clearly so everyone can understand, but also completely dismisses facts or dodges questions. but the real tide turner for me with peterson was when he was talking about communism and facism, and he said "...stalin had an army standing ready to invade europe, so hitler was acting in europe's defense" which was the biggest lie ive ever heard, stalin WAS the soviet union, and he thought the intel reports about a german buildup were false to distract him from finding plots in his government, when the german army invaded the entire red army was whiped out and the rest of the war was fought by soviet conscripts, this was due to the soviets believing they could defeat the germans by retreating just like napoleon, which led to massive encriclements and let to the near entire destruction of the red army and then this guy comes along and claims stalin had an army ready to invade europe and was also planning to, even though stalin himself had a policy "communism in one country" actively being uninterested in expanding communism on a global scale

Judging by the graph, the 60s were good, most likely the previous 15 years of Yugoslavia were also really good. It only took a bad turn in the 70s, when there was a global recession, the infamous ‘stagflation’. Even America was seeing higher unemployment rates at that time. This led to the rise of neoliberalism and people like Milton Friedman. So big surprise, the “debunking” of worker coops in that study, is lacking context, and missing large swathes of time. I actually read Caplan's book on Democracy and it's utter trash. - First, he says that democracy doesn't work precisely because the will of average voter is actually done (lmao) and the average voter wishes for harmful policies. Caplan also makes the astonishing claim that politicians don't make false promises because they'll be punished for not following through. He acknowledges the presence of special interests, but claims they only have impact on the margins because sticking up for any unpopular policies is too big of a career risk (I actually laughed out loud when I got to this part). - He fights against the idea that usury is bad, because loans and interest are a "quid pro quo" agreement between the lender and borrower that is mutually beneficial. Caplan rejects the idea that there is widespread "dishonsty, unfairness and deceit" among business elites because of "intelligent greed". His theory is that any foul play will ultimately ruin the reputation of a firm and therefore is not worth the risk or is rooted out by consumers going elsewhere. He uses this same logic with usury. I guess payday loans and crippling IMF loans don't exist! I also always find it hilarious that Libertarians claim that everyone is a self-interested utility maximizer, but would be willing to hurt their own financial standing and pay more for a product to punish firms that are morally ethically questionable. That contradicts all of Libertarian theory. - Apparently it's a "conspiracy" to believe that employers try to hold down wages. - Caplan implied that monopolies aren't widespread, despite virtually every industry now being dominated by a handful of firms. - He says that propaganda isn't a problem worth worrying about because people are already prone to be skeptical of the news, and that their core "wrong" beliefs existed before big media because of a "natural" disposition to them.

this ancap guy is a great example of how “facts and logic” aren’t worth anything in a vacuum. you can cite a random paper to seem smart all you want, but you are neglecting that not everyone has the same ideological goals. shareholder profits is not something socialists want. you can say Actually, Shareholder Value Decreased and that’s not gonna mean anything if the other side WANTS shareholder value to decrease or not be a consideration. if you want to check the facts and logic, you need to know what someone values. ask about worker standard of living, and you have a much better metric from a leftist POV.

Average price of generic metformin (diabetes drug) in the US is $20. Over here in Europe I buy Glucophage (name brand metformin) for the equivalent of $1.30. The whole package. Btw love how a lot of American sites give a per unit price, very dystopian. Reminds me of the post-soviet 90s crisis when people were buying cigs by the unit, but with life-saving drugs

Dude these metrics are always going to be insufficient to prove the quality of a workplace. I work in retail and one of my managers stood behind me while I took a survey about how much I like my job and if I have the tools I need to succeed. I was still honest but I felt like I should be lying so I don't risk my job.
