I was at a bar one night that had karaoke going on and this woman, straight out of nowhere started singing White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane. She sounded exactly like Grace Slick. Ummm... Karaoke is used as a training tool here in the Philippines. So I can say that its never cringy. We praise them to high heaven.

I agree, it's more cringey when people with less vocal control that yells and acts extremely silly to get attention and sings not taking kareoke seriously everytime are more cringey. It's actually pleasing to hear people try to sing even though not everyone has great vocals, but taking it seriously at the same time while having fun is how we do it. Most people would even cheer on the person singing while smiling. NEVER cringey.
