I’m genuinely worried that these people may induce themselves into psychosis. As a person with a dissociative disorder I can see this whole “shifting” thing causing a lot of psychological damage to a lot of kids. When they convince themselves that there are separate realities that they can shift themselves over to, they are creating a distance between their consciousness and reality. I really am scared for these people because I believe that this could develop into a form of self-harm due to the distress these people exhibit when they return to “the real world”. We should try and spread awareness about this before these kids seek out even more dangerous dangerous methods to escape reality. I’m really worried for my generation man :(

The thing about shifting is, I think it is actually scientifically explainable, similar to lucid dreaming. The thing that irks me about a lot of those tiktokers is that some are blatantly lying about their experience, and some are experiencing actual psychosis which is dangerous. Some claim to have been gone for months at a time, which is clearly a lie or a psychotic episode. Many people who suffer from psychosis have a warped perception of time, and second of all why are they bawling their eyes out making a tiktok right after they came back for the first time in months? Any form of escapism is dangerous if it is done too often, and you should never be bawling your eyes out just because you woke up to reality because that can become an addiction, just like abusing hallucinogens that let you see things that aren't there or maladaptive daydreaming, and can be extremely dangerous for people who are mentally vulnerable, or predisposed to developing psychosis.
@yuzurucorner3 жыл бұрын
Also they keep referencing a "CIA document about shifting" as evidence, where in fact there is nothing like that. There is no CIA report on shifting, there was a alternate reality theory written by one person, and was declassified by the CIA. Its totally unrelated and people use it as "evidence" without even reading it.
@jonny5553333 жыл бұрын
@@yuzurucorner Yeah that CIA document part really bothers me lol. It's literally one military officer who just wrote about his thoughts on the possibility of alternate realities. But because it's technically a military document, it shows up in CIA declassified documents. But it's not a study or research paper in any way. It's literally a simple as one guy just writing down his thoughts on alternate realities. That is not evidence of anything.

Abusing hallucinogenics? Have you ever done hallucinogens? You can’t even do them often, it doesn’t work. At least not with shrooms. And when you’re not tripping anymore, you still feel good. Yea bad trips happen but that’s different. It’s not like with other drugs where the major change in serotonin levels makes you depressed. This is why shrooms and ecstasy are micro dosed to help with mental illness and trauma based disorders. I think a better example would be abuse of alcohol or other drugs like cocaine.
@ErikDornes3 жыл бұрын
You can pretty much dissociate and believe anything you want and have wild experiences, and this solipsistic thinking combined with fantasy thinking and dissociative practices can pretty much make you believe you are in a different reality. This is why many (if not most) philosophers nowadays don't talk about the "objective reality" but rather the "intersubjective" one, meaning the shared perspectival reality.

I think they're just maladaptive daydreaming. I've been doing maladaptive daydreaming since I was a baby. It's very vivid and fun, and I've created whole character with back-stories, and even a country with a national anthem and capitol city. I can visualize the scenery, and sometimes hear my character's voices. It's kind like dreaming whilst being half-awake half-asleep. Sometimes, when I move on the dream, I wake myself up because my legs twitched violently. That's how vivid it is. BUT the fucking problem is is that it's addictive and ruins your fucking life. Why would I do my schoolwork when I can just lucid-daydream that I'm in fucking Skyrim, or the ATLA universe? It's ruined ALL my social skills and education. Can’t you just say “Accio” to anything you want and you would get it, if so why not just say ‘Accio the deathly hallows’ or ‘Accio Voldemorts horcruxes’?
@sephkurai3 жыл бұрын
@@sazsha There are a lot of holes yeah, but Sirius escaped Azkaban because he could shapeshift into an animal. I forget what it's called but these people are so dangerous that they all have to be documented by the Ministry of Magic. Sirius taught himself (which is a plot hole, how and why don't more people?) He stayed in Azkaban for as long as he did because he thought he deserved punishment but the first news he got about Harry he turned into his dog form and slipped past the dementors who are oblivious to the presence of animals (another plot hole). Currency is enchanted so you can't replicate it. Invisibility cloaks are extremely rare and powerful items, the one Harry had was an ancient heirloom. You can't Accio something outside your range or something you've never seen before.

That happens to me too if I fall asleep with the Tv on lol. That’s literally why subliminal videos are used as part of the method of shifting. If you look up HP subliminals, there are soooo many dedicated to so many scenarios where people have mashed up different audios to create a scene. People think they are shifting & living out real scenarios, when it’s just their subconscious taking what they hear from the videos & running with it.
@craigmerryfull77043 жыл бұрын
ah ok. Well that explains why it doesn't feel like a dream. They look at me but never acknowledge my existence, just carrying on with their conversations. But I guess our subconscious doesn't really respect us. we just acquire energy for it if you really think about it.

okay so for all the people who saying this is fake how hard is it for you to get. 1.) it is not lucid dreaming, many lucid dreamers including myself who has lucid dreamed everynight for over a decade can tell you its not even close to the same. You cant stay in a lucid dream for YEAR and YEARS. 2.) its not maladaptive daydreaming. Somw of the symptoms of maladaptive daydreaming is an inability to carry out daily tasks, repetitive and unconscious movements when daydreaming, such as rocking back and forth or twitching, sleep disruption and insomnia, abnormally long daydreams that are hard to escape. Shifting dose not effect you ability to carry out tasks, you dont move when your shifting, shifting dose not affect you sleeping, and you can leave that reality WHENEVER you want its not hard to leave. If anything its hard to stay there. Plus, you dont have to be awake to shift, therefore if your asleep its not a day dream. You chose to shift, people even have a hard time shifting. Its 3.) just because you don’t understand something dose not mean its not real. Shifting has been around for YEARS its not just a new trend by teens as adults do it to. 4.) stop being so closed minded. You really think everything is all plain and simple? Stop being so dense 5.) if you think its just your imagination, you just plain dumb literally do your research.

In reference to the girl talking about her finger shifting when she closes an eye, I couldn't help but think about optics and how artists draw things. Like if you're looking at a cube on a turn table and shift it slightly to the right or left, the entire image that you have to draw is shifted and becomes something else. So what is the real correct way we should view that cube? Is a cube truly square? Maybe from some angles, but not all. I was also thinking about the ways that animals may see things differently from us. Some are blind, some see thermal energy, some can see in the dark, some can see in different dimensions, some are colour blind etc. Does the difference in the way things are perceived mean that those animals are seeing an altered reality from us? If so, is their reality false simply because they don't perceive what humans do? Could it be that their reality is 'shifted' like the girl said? Maybe. And if so, we technically have the ability to create whatever reality we want right?
@sevastilouta59843 жыл бұрын
Your questions are very interesting indeed, but those ideas can very easily lead to subjectivity. I agree we have no clue what goes on beyond our human perception and understanding of the world, but that's because we experience the world through our senses. It kinda reminds me of plato's allegory of the cave (not to sound too pretentious lol).

I think a bunch of them deep down are sceptic but they are so desperate for a escape that they are willing to play along, ESPECIALLY since if they speak out with doubts they would get crucified in the comments. What’s sad is that there are several big accounts in the shifting community that Are pretty obviously trolling people & are using peoples desperation for escapism just to gain large followings.

MY theory is the internet has broken the delusion for Gen Z that life is happy and sunshine and rainbows and they lost the childlike wonder and magic at a really young age because they can now see how fucked up and unfair and corrupt our world is. That’s why all the Gen Z kids are doing this to cope with the hard reality that life can be harsh.

The people people in the video are 35+ year olds,you know the group that "grew up" in the internet? The real problem here are 35+ year old white women who won't accept that they aren't children anymore or in the year 2004. Notice how you never see anyone else doing this crap? Twisting the situation to something else is unnecessary and incorrect.

I mean it's good kids are exploring meditation... but it's literally meditation. People have been doing it since the beginning of recorded time. it does sound an awful lot like lucid dreaming, except theyre just rejecting the fact it is lucid dreaming. since your in a dream time seems to go slower, you can imagine whatever you want into existence and when you wake up it can sometimes be disorienting. ive done it a few times and when i wake up i usually feel like i havent been in reality for months or years, i wouldnt say its shifting realities, its just taking control of your dreams
