In one chemistry lesson, a group of lads decided to get little scoops of every chemical that had been laid out for us to work with. It’s the people’s cooperative, sort of a charity that was started by the quakers (religious people, same people as Quaker Oats) and their main thing was sharing out food hence the supermarkets, but they owned factories, funeral services, banks, educational facilities etc, so that’s a school funded by charity!

i didn't want to make that comment too long but i just wanted to add that although i dealt with a lot of xenophobia in school and despise our government, i absolutely love the people here. i haven't had to deal with any xenophobia since leaving school and college, and i forgive everyone who's given me that kind of treatment because, well, they were kids. they were influenced by their parents and the media. can't blame them really, and i hope they grew out of that. i go back to visit my native country almost every year and the cultural differences are huge. i even went back to live there for a few months and got my first ever job there. i could tell that i didn't belong. my vocabulary for my native language has diminished and i just couldn't communicate well. people there are so judgemental, rude, and impatient. i love being able to call england my home, and both native english people and immigrants my people. at my job i work with a lot of english ppl (although there's more immigrants - it is a warehouse after all) and it's obvious they accept me as one of their own. just typing that out is making me so emotional that i'm tearing up. even before i moved here i never felt like i belonged where i was born. i simply didn't understand or fit in with my native culture and i'm so fucking happy i finally found my home

It's been so long I can't even remember what set her off cause I didn't even do anything, but all the teachers hated me in that school because I was "different" [ie undiagnosed autism in the early 2000s was FUN] and would even mock me in the staff room lmao, well since my mom was picking me up I went to her and explained what happened and oooh boy, mom told me to get in the car [as she parked down the road from school] charged in the car park and went to the office and was like WTF U DOING??? and the PE tried to intimidate her but ended up getting intimidated by my tiny ass mom who is smaller than me 💀 safe to say I got my stadium back

Its a food safety thing, the US is notably lax compared to EU and UK food standards, if the school provides butter, and every student uses it, and that butter is contaminated, everyone gets sick, if students bring their own, and their butter is bad, only THAT student gets ill. I know common sense aint an American strong suit but surely that should be an obvious reason to bring seperate ingredients, surely? Bring your own gym clothes dontcha?

@@GrumpyMunkyGameDesign maybe they just trust that they can provide safe ingredients. if that is the reason they make you bring your own I’d be terrified of your guys school lunch.

My nan once said she got a part time job helping kids. Rockup to the first exam of year 10 and she’s standing there telling me to shut up

when we were reading of mice and men one of the teachers said THE word and people recorded it and we had a whole meeting about how we’re not allowed to have our phones on us. It’s legal to record someone without their permission. Everyone got their phones taken away from their lockers and everyone was told to delete the video, they went through almost every single person‘s phone but I still have the video💀

I used to live in Stoke where that “co op” school is, used to be called discovery not co op. Maybe it’s changed I’m not sure but it def wasn’t that when I lived there a year or two ago
