Our music sucked/sucks. It's AWFUL Worse, they never stopped playing it. It went from "hot hits" to "soft rock" to adult contemporary to now being "oldies" 70s music is better in every way. Even disco. 50s music is better too. The only thing I grant is that it's better than what is played on the radio today, which is even worse.

The year this song broke out, I was maybe 15 y/o. I traveled to Connecticut from Florida during the summer to work on a farm and put a few sheckles together. I only managed to work about a month and a half before being fired. The morning after I was driven to the airport in Hartford to be flown home. I was carrying my bass guitar with me when out of the blue, SHE walked up to me and told me to loosen my strings so the high altitude wouldnt warp the neck or break the strings on my bass. I flew home to Florida still not realizing who she was until I saw the MTV music video for "Voices Carry" and I was completely floored. It is likely that she saw some skinny kid bass player, who was quite the freak back then, and being the sweet soul she is, took it upon herself to give me some awesome advice. I just wish I had known who she was at the time. Shouldve had her sign my bass. Such a beautiful girl. Love this song.

Cool story, but Aimee's advice was incorrect-pressure changes have no significant effect on stringed instruments or string tension. This is a fallacy. Though sealed containers can be affected by pressure changes (drive through a mountain pass [or down from mountains] with a sealed vessel with air in it [water bottle will do] and open it at the top or bottom, and you'll hear either a release or intake of air). Your bass is not a sealed container, and neither is your case. Also, modern aircraft are pressurized, even in the cargo hold, and cabin altitudes are usually maintained at or less than 8000 feet so that passengers won't experience hypoxia at cruise altitudes. That being said, I love this Til Tuesday performance.

Brother, 1986-1993 may have been the greatest run in cultural history. We had no idea what we had.
@anfernee5765 ай бұрын
@@rlodes1 When considering music's golden era, one must focus on the period from the 1950s through the early 2000s. This era stands out as a pinnacle of musical creativity, diversity, and influence. It's interesting to observe how the first 50 years of a genre often emerge as its most impactful and revered period. During these formative decades, foundational styles and iconic artists shape the genre's identity and legacy. In the context of music, the 1950s to the early 2000s saw a remarkable evolution and fusion of various musical styles. The 1950s introduced rock 'n' roll, jazz, and blues, setting the stage for future innovations. The 1960s and 1970s witnessed the rise of legendary bands like The Beatles and Led Zeppelin, alongside the emergence of Motown and the birth of heavy metal and punk rock. The 1980s brought about the explosion of pop, new wave, and hip-hop, while the 1990s saw the dominance of grunge, alternative rock, and the globalization of electronic music. As we moved into the 21st century, the impact of digital technology and the internet began to reshape the music industry. The early 2000s marked the end of this golden era as traditional methods of music production, distribution, and consumption gave way to new, technology-driven paradigms. While innovation and technological advancements have undoubtedly expanded the possibilities within the music industry, the foundational years from the 1950s to the early 2000s remain unmatched in their cultural and artistic significance.

This song came out in my country while I was in the army just towards the end of training. Then I was posted to the operational area in Angola and never saw civilization again for nine months. Casevaced out of Angola and after some time in hospital I was sent home to a completely different world. My younger sister was out of school, my parents divorced, my older sister and her husband separated. I had 6 weeks of accumulated leave and recovery leave and in that time I became a recluse and tried to catch up on the music scene. This song I must have listened to a thousand times and every time I hear it I'm taken back to that time when I was almost killed in a stupid and unnecessary war and my entire life was changed forever yet I was grateful to still be alive. Today I'm friends with former enemies from Russia, Cuba and Namibia and can go to former battlefields where I lost friends, comrades and even family and sit there thinking how everything could've ended for me all those years ago and how I changed yet this song is one of those that helped me recover. the mental scars are there but I can cope so thank you Till Tuesday. You guys are awesome!

@@KingKull1971 Your comment makes no sense. I was in my early 20s when I saw them. Back then there was no autotune so people had to have a good voice. Today, it's looks first, dance moves second, and can you sing well enough to sound OK with autotune.
@KingKull19712 жыл бұрын
@@snaredude56 I have to tell you they had auto tune back in the 80's, and lip-synching. Milli Vanilli got caught out and had to give their Grammy award back then remember. Many pop songs and dance tracks used auto tune to enhance their sound. Its been around for a long time. And that's why I questioned your age, because artist like Donna Summer, used it in the 70's to create an ethereal effect in some of their songs. Your comment comes across like a youngster complaining.
