In this video, I talk about Tilda a fantastic drop down terminal that just works really well. Tilda is great for workflow being able to have a dedicated terminal always sitting on the desktop is really convenient. I hope you enjoy this video!

Awesome find! I used Yakuake and Guake. With this one it doesn't matter where you put the taskbar.

Why does it matter if you have to flip between a browser and a terminal window or a browser and your desktop - generally curious?

Your System looks amazing ! Please can you make a video on -> What Distro you have -> What desktop environment you are using -> And what icons and themes you have ! I have watched your *Arch Linux customize guide* but it will be awesome it you can make a separate step by step on how to make a system that look likes yours ! Thank you !

Nice video, although I am using Sakura at the moment. Since I use a tiling window manager, I dont have the need for something like Tilda

You still have to switch between the desktop and browser. In my opinion Once you use something like tmux, you don't really need to care about the terminal anymore.

As a minimal distro maintainer i will include it. Its make sense to use minimal - drop down - written in C terminal

I don't know if you are still looking, but I use Blender for anything video related. So far I'm not disappointed. I can actually quite recommend it even. It has everything you need. Add Ardour for your recording needs and you should be good to go. At the moment I still draw stuff in Krita, too, but I'm hoping when Blender 2.8 comes out I can do it in there too no problem.

Just run a terminal. Why would you want to keep something open and cluttering up your desktop? I don't get it.

Is there any of these features that does not already exist within... every pre-installed terminal in pretty much any distro that comes with a desktop environment? There's got to be more to it than setting your window starting position, and removing the scrollbar. Its mapped to the tilda key, is that what makes it shine? I'm pretty sure I can press ctrl-alt-t or alt-tab as fast as I could press the tilda key. And what terminal only lets you run one instance at a time!? What am I missing here?

Does your way make you feel like a hacker, or a programmer? I submit that it does not. As Antoun astutely points out, Tilda does! hth

Have you tried Yakuake? You don't need to have the Desktop in focus to bring town the terminal. Just press F12 from any application, which is nice since you don't use that key when you're typing. Whereas the tilde key IS used when typing. Maybe you can change the default key to open Tilda to F12 or something, I dunno. I just see that as a problem.
