Concrete,mine,lab,etc workers too. General rule of thumb if its irritating its no doubt bad for your mortal body, speaking from experience . Basic hardwares sell hepa filters and bags cheap. I use em on my ryobi shop vac. Bunnings.

That sounds nasty, maybe dampen the towl so it catches the dust better. I'm not sure using the vaccume cleaner is 100% safe, it may not filter the exhaust. Fine mist spray the floor with water to stop the dust escaping, wipe up with a water saturated rag. I'm likely talking crap (very likely lol ), but your lungs are at risk :-(
