It works so well because it's blind prejudice and it happens in real life too. They would never think to do that because of the fear that has been instilled in them over 10,000 years since the last Devil God roamed the Realms. Even if they had, Di Mian wouldn't have agreed to using the artifact and only Cang Jiumin knows he was the one who killed his own love and the Devil God only to claim the power for himself. They wouldn't believe him even with the artifact because of their blind hatred of what he represents (The Devil God's reincarnation), even though he isn't the Devil God. Really hope Susu's love for him becomes a barrier to the evil in some way.
