beautifully explained ! fills in so many gaps which i clearly did not previously understand. gives me a real opportunity to work with the brilliant technique.

Very good breakdown of Sam's swing so that the amateur golfer can understand. Will try working on those elements. Thanks. Subscribed.

You've drawn the line at his right hip on the bulging pocket. Drawn properly, the right hip would obviously move as far as the left.

great video. but snead's hips do turn centered on the backswing. On the right your's do. his hips move to his right side. Just as they move to the left side on the downswing. Put your right hip on the edge of a table at address and swing back. Your right hip should not come off the table. It can slide back all it wants but it must stay on the table.

Sams head clearly lowers in the back swing and moves about 4 inches to the right. Not sure where he is seeing a stand up in the back swing and a centered head

Thanks for your comment. Where do you see head moving 4 inches to right? Agreed head lowers but not significantly -- Check out the DTL view from 6:42-6:48. The "stand up" doesn't mean the head will go up. It means the spine and pelvis are moving towards extension. Extension, left-side-bend and turn are the 3 parts of a backswing.

@@jeremywellsgolf1760 Mark the edge of his hat at 2:47 the start of the back swing, then look where it has moved by 2:54. There is clearly about a 4 inch movement. As for the standing up action, you are over complicating the back swing. Students just need to know that the left shoulder moves towards the right and the right hip presses into the tush line on the back swing. Then depending on where the the butt end of the club points at the 3/4 position in the back swing the shoulders will either be steep or flat. Not trying to be an ass but I think you are going down an overly complicated perception of what is actually occurring. Thanks for the reply and civil debate my friend

@@TheSeer101 I'll meet you in the middle and say there's a couple inches of lateral movement of upper torso in backswing. Agree to disagree about over complication but obviously KZbin video delivery is much different than 1 on 1 golf lessons with average players. Your backswing feels (left shoulder and tush line) would work as long as rear leg straightens some amount. If not, golfer would probably lose too much height on backswing and have trouble maintaining said position on way down. Body movement > Club movement on backswing. Lots of ways to position the club
