I love that you guys do this!!! I am a stay at home mom and have been for almost 23 years. We went from 2 great incomes to one and it was hard at first. Our first born was born during a time where I was very sick and was not diagnosed until after finding out I was pregnant. Unfortunately, being pregnant and having my medical issues made for a very hard pregnancy. (I was asked SIX times to abort him...He’s amazing and everything turned out well, Thanks to God and our 22 doctors.) We had THREE insurances at the time and they all capped. In the end it cost a million and a half dollars to have him. No 25 year old is prepared for that kind of thing. But budgeting, consistency, and focus made it easier. Now, there have been times where it has been tougher than others but it works. We still budget and will even sit down and find where we can budget even more now, making way more money than ever before. We have tried not to live out our income. Now, I know this might not be the popular part of my comment, but I’m not a “Dave Ramsey” fan. Now, before the rocks start flying, it’s nothing against him at all-it’s the organizations that put on his classes. 😂😂😂 In my little opinion I have never understood the fact that these organizations put these classes on and will ask those looking to become debt free to PAY for these classes, and they’re not cheap! 🤷🏻‍♀️ I understand, I could be way wrong and just going off what happens in our area. Maybe I don’t know that they are free elsewhere. I’m so sorry this part makes absolutely no sense to me. 😂😂

That is a crazy story!! The classes cost because he charges a fee. That’s why he is so rich 😉😂 but all our local churches do classes for free!

Yes Dave Ramsey got us out of debt too! Best feeling ever. I was able to work part time instead of full time. Impulse buys always get you in trouble. Lol. We also did no cable and had Netflix only. Stressful at first but like you said once you focus on the goal and start seeing the debt come off it’s totally worth it. I thrift and garage sale too. My son wears a lot of under armor and nike and no one would ever guess they’re second hand. Love your channel. ❤️

I would like to add for the person that asked about the first child, because I have been there lol, that many ppl don't need ALL the baby stuff hahaha. Pack and play, simple dresser, carrier, car seat, clothes, diapers...you know, the essentials are what is necessary. I really overbought and didn't use most of it. The second time around, way more minimal. The second time around I also made my own baby food, its really super easy :)

I have no payment right now so ill savor it another year or two 😉 We paid off student loans, no credit cards, have one car note. My husband has one year left to pay child support. Then we'll be using that money to pay off tthe house. This is what i needed to hear to keep on track.

I don't follow any particular paying down/off debt program, but I'm currently doing the paying the lowest debt first scenario. It is so gratifying to see the debt dwindle. I'm kinda old school so no spreadsheets needed, just list everything down like you said and take it from there. Consistency is the key as well. And if you do go off target, don't berate yourself, just get right back into it as soon as possible. It's a process and it is hard. I plan on retiring in two years, so my goal is to pay off all my personal debt by then. TFS your tips.

Would that 1,000 in savings change in your opinion if you knew there was an impending large expense that was unavoidable? My husband is Navy and we are probably going to have to move in a year so we need money for security deposits etc. We have that but personally I want more of a buffer on top of it even though we are currently trying to pay off all of our credit card debt.

When you cut the excess from your life to save or to pay off debt, let your family know what you're doing and ask for experiences as gifts for things like birthdays or holidays. Annual passes to the zoo, movie passes, gift cards to restaurants, that type of thing. That way you still get some fun time without taking money away from your financial goals. It'll make it easier because you won't feel as deprived. And when you're feeling like this has drug on for ages, go back through your bills and look at how much debt you've paid off and take a great deal of pride in that. You're giving things up and living frugally for a reason and you can go back and look at those balances to see exactly how much you've already accomplished. That makes it easier for you to continue with that frugal lifestyle. :)

About a year ago I had all the papers signed to buy a Rainbow vacuum and I called and cancelled maybe 2 days later. I am so happy I did otherwise I would have regretted that extremely large purchase as well. I do think it is an amazing product, though, and would love to have one some day. I noticed on Walmart's website there are refurbished ones for about $700. I've noticed, too, there are other companies coming up with smaller versions using the water. Thank you for your video! I love getting information from Dave Ramsey. I've been working on getting my finances together. My husband and I are just starting to work with a financial advisor who followed Dave Ramsey's program herself so it's very reassuring to work with her because I know she isn't going to steer us in any crazy directions.

Who goes through with a calculator in the store and adds up as they are going... Me. Lol. I've always attempted to stick to a grocery budget since I've been married, also a side effect of being poor or only having so much money to spend before that, I hate putting things back at the line. Lol. Walmart pick up is nice though. I'm a bit sad I forgot to do mine last night. Maybe I'll do one today and wake up early tomorrow. 😂😭 Have a good weekend.

This is the first finance video I am watching - and I have to say, what I already do (well, mostly lol) is so on point with what you guys are saying! I am so happy to be on the right track!! Moving from NY to FL, now owning our own house, I need the envelope system to do anything! (ANDDDD...it actually feels good!!!) I always told my friend who always said "I can't", to make it happen, even if you gotta put $2 away a paycheck, you will get that item! She still doesn't do it, and we do. We go on vacation, she doesn't. I wish she would understand! I must show her Dave! Thank you!!!!

I just love y'all... I needed this video this morning! I'm like you, I just wanted to be home with my babies.. I tried to work for a couple years since they was 9 & 11.. But I believe God was leading me different and came back home. So now with 1 income, it has pushed me to start doing what I love (selling DIYs and refurbished items).. I was trying to decide how to be a better help to my husband and this has convinced me. I am going back to all your finance videos and jumping on the Dave Rampsy plan! Thank y'all for being so open and honest about where you have been. So many people try to hide their past or current struggles.... I sincerely pray that God continues to bless you! Great video as always. We have no debt and make very healthy salaries and our focus is pay off our mortgage as well. I do use my credit card for everything because of the amazing cash back we get. I don’t overspend and stay on budget. It’s not the credit cards it’s the people and how they use the credit cards, IMO. I make several thousand dollars a year by using credit cards and getting the cash back.

Thank you so much for sharing videos like this. There is a lack of education that there is another way to live that doesnt involve credit. I am a thankful for my husband's upbringing in a Dave Ramsey family...I saw my parents struggle with debt and didn't know there was another way. We paid off our student loans (private Christian schools are expensive) and we were able to live overseas and do mission work because of it. Living a debt free life is a liberating and free feeling. You have choices. We recently transitioned back to life in America and were able to make job choices in a smart way that was best for us because we had no debt strings attached. Long post to say thank toy so much for these encouraging videos and showing this as a sustainable way to live! 😊💙

My husband has always been a 'tight wad'. I never appreciated that when I was younger like I do now.(married 39 yrs) However, our 34 yr old son has none of those financial qualities like his father. I'm so proud of you both to be so young and smart when it comes to money.

So funny you mentioned Savannah loving her Justice...my daughter’s wardrobe is mostly Justice and one day she mentioned wanting to get Justice clothes....from the store. And it took one explanation that she has a closet full of Justice because we can get 10 shirts at thrift stores and garage sales for the price of ONE shirt at the store. That’s all it took and she’s never said another word. She LOVES thrifting with me! :)

Hello, thank you for your videos. I have a question. My husband works a full time job and is also self employed. We do have debt. I wanted to get a part-time job and our accountant advised us not to because he said it would put us in a higher tax bracket and that it really wouldn't be worth it. What would you recommend? Thanks. Hugs and prayers from Virginia.

Best Vlog. If people would just listen. They have to find out the hard way. I don't like interest. I borrow money with zero interest. Yes I pay a fee but it is usually less than 100. This is was good. ♥️♥️♥️♥️

I just love your family!💖 Thank you for all your hard work making these videos. When I see you have a new video up, it just makes my day!! My biggest problem with money is, I am a giver. Of course I get used a lot because of it, but I still give. Time and money. I just can't say no. But, I'm trying to learn to. I will do without to give to someone else. But it makes me happy to give. 🙂. I am debt free and have been for several years. And I'm very thankful. This was a great video. Thanks again!! I wish I was your neighbor. I believe we could be good friends. You remind me a lot of my cousin.🙂. Y'all have a wonderful weekend!

You give wonderful advice and I love your, “Get the Great Value. Don’t be a snob” comment! More great advice! 😂 My husband and I have had one income our entire 28 year marriage. We also have three children which I homeschooled. My youngest is going to be a Sophomore this year. It can be extremely difficult to get out of debt, especially having a family, but it is definitely worth it. Thank you for sharing such wisdom with those who are still learning. May God continue to bless you as you bless others.

So I have been watching you guys for a little while, and I like the way how you come together on budgeting. We are currently looking Into getting into a new house, but there are a couple roadblocks that need to be handled. I'm getting a bonus this month and I want to put it away for our dream home and my other half wants to spend it. I get really upset when we can't be on the same page. I want to tell her that I didn't get it, but then that will cause some trust issues. I'm struggling on this so bad..

So I know you already did the question answering however, I have a question about my student loans I would be very grateful to get your opinion. I have about $11,000 in student loans from my associates and bachelors degrees. I am a teacher and there is a federal program that forgives 100% of remaining teacher student loans after 10 years. Do I still try to pay it off myself as quick as possible or do I get on a income based payment and pay the minimum knowing that it will be gone in 10 years with a lot less out of our pockets?
