@David Galea Comparing today's gasoline cars to a Tesla is kind of like comparing the most-refined 1950's steam-engines to a new bullet-train. I think they're both cool, but in different ways. The gasoline car designers have proven themselves to be incredible at overcoming so many of the core deficiencies and limitations of that legacy technology. Imagine the cars they will be able to create once they're not hindered by that big loud complex heavy hot unreliable slow weak gasoline powertrain monstrosity.
@patrickmcdonald34273 жыл бұрын
@@paulrybarczyk5013 This video shows how the Tesla drive train is constructed. What makes them quick/fast is front and rear electric motors each making over 500 hp, w/ liquid-cooled induction motors using special silicone nitride bearings which use no oil, but to do so requires 1/3 of a megawatt each! To put this in perspective, that is enough electricity to power almost 400 homes at once! kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4K5ZHdue5uarNk

Tim's love & passion for cars is something we should all be so fortunate to have. One healthy obsession is often the greatest reason on earth to get out of bed & say "What new adventure is next up for me?" That's a life worth living in my opinion. Sure you got family to look after & other obligations to tend to & that's often all the best things to have. However all of those things are just a small piece of what life really embodies. If any of that makes sense to anyone out there in the big, bad, rough & tumble world. Find your passion it may very well save your life or give you a new purpose in life.

Remember, the Car is a Cobra, The engine is the Cobra Jet. I memorized all the brochures, I had the option sheets, which detailed out what a 1970 Falcon is and what a 1970 1/2 Falcon is. I owned two Torino GTs and hope someday to have a 70 Cobra. I also had two 1970 Torino wagons which have a coolness of their own. Of course the RS200 makes me jealous, also!

I drove an old '68 Fleetwood Brougham for a year in college. That would have been in the mid 1970s. As I recall it was 19 feet long and took up two parking spaces. It was powered by their "small" 472 cubic inch V8 and got 6 mpg around town, 8 mpg on the highway. Dad said the previous owner had been a Navy Admiral. I can believe it because it was a real land yacht.

The thing you see on the back of the 50 Cadillac is the glass backup light lenses. I robbed a pair of those off of a '50 Caddy in our field of beaters when I was a teen (around1977), and used them as front turn signal lenses covers on my '55 second series Chevrolet pickup. Had to purchase amber colored bulbs tho.

In terms of the “I get more thumbs up” comment, I say that hands down, absolutely nothing elicits more positive reactions from a wider spectrum of people than a really old VW Beetle. It doesn’t matter if it’s a kid, a priest, a mom pushing her stroller... anyone, you get ear to ear grins and people coming up to you with a story about having some type of experience or relationship to the car. I’ve owned a bunch, still have several, and they pretty much just collect dust nowadays; my wife too prefers the Beetle. You can only go so fast on public roads anyway. And the more expensive the car, the more people just sneer, thinking that you’re a jerk. Beetles are pure joy machines!
