How to incorrectly say New Orleans for 10 minutes and 34 seconds. Lolol FYI: It's pronounced "muff-uh-lotta" and yes, the bread is a pretty important part of the sandwich. It's specifically a type of Italian style bread with Sesame seeds and it has to be soft enough to be a sandwich bread but also dense enough to not get soggy from the olive dressing. It's KIND OF like foccacia but not quite. Turducken is also something we eat exclusively on holidays like Thanksgiving/Christmas. It is usually served with dressings (or in most parts of the US, they're referred to as "stuffing") with traditional holiday side dishes like green beans, mashed potatoes, etc. Most families who don't finish the turducken will usually take the left overs and make Gumbo, jambalaya or roast sandwiches the next could days. Lastly, although historically called a KingS cake, we just call it King Cake (without the S) nowadays. The king cake variation that you guys had is what's traditional in New Orleans NOW but the "ring shape" wasn't the original as king cake used to be just this big square of almond pastry filled with apples (sometimes chocolate) and instead of a plastic baby, they used to bake a little bean in the cake. Now if you get the baby, it means you bring the next king cake to the next gathering and that continues until Mardi Gras. Hope this info was helpful to y'all. (:
