The moment Alabama beat Georgia, they were in the playoff in the eyes of the committee, whether Jordan Travis was healthy or not. Do not kid yourself if you think otherwise. You couldn't put Bama over Texas, so they would've jumped them both over FSU. It's a travesty what happened to FSU. The Jordan Travis injury just gave them some self justification for the decision.

My problem with the playoff is there is no criteria. It’s we think this we think that. Guess what everybody thought Oregon would beat Washington both times and Washington ended up winning both. There is a criteria or a set of bylaws that they like to go by. The only problem with that criteria is that it isn’t always applied in a consistent way across the board. When you hear these “analysts” compare teams, they want to down play earlier wins in Florida States season as not impressive but when it’s about Alabama or any other SEC team, they were BIG WINS! It’s inconsistent and no one calls it out. That’s the issue.

My only push back would be in 2014 TCU(4) and Baylor(5) both had 1 loss and tied for the Big 12 title with no championship game. Ohio State(6) also had one loss but curb stomped Wisconsin in the Big 10 championship 59-0 . The lack of a conference championship allowed OSU to jump into play-offs.

Make no mistake, Florida State was kicked to the curb to make room for Alabama. The Powers that Be couldn't get Alabama in unless they also invited Texas who matched Bama's conference championship, and record, while beating Bama head to head (in Tuscaloosa) by double digits. In all honesty, the football playoff should be called the "SEC Invitational Tournament," because they've had a team in the title game 16 out of the past 17 years, winning 13 of them. The Committee is so biased it does not believe there can be a playoff without an SEC representative, and beyond that, there is an even stronger Bama Bias. Alabama was ranked 8th going into the Georgia game, and even though they won by only 3 points, and the week before they won on a last second Hail Mary pass to defeat a hapless Auburn team, they ascended all the way to 4th place. The excuse about Florida State's quarterback going down, was just that, an excuse. The Committee has consistently shown, when strength of schedule helps Bama, strength of schedule will become the deciding factor. When it favors Bama, conference championships will become the deciding factor. If it helps Bama, the deciding factor will be who they feel is "best". The Committee ought to be investigated for corruption, and violation of the public trust, and then disbanded. I'm tired of clandestine cabals scheming behind closed doors. The only fair-minded solution is to invite all major conference champions to the playoffs, and then invite the next best, until 16 teams have been chosen. Use standard playoff format, e.g. #1 vs #16 and so on and so forth. Let the teams determine on the field who belongs in the final four, not an unaccountable secret Committee with deep seeded biases and agendas.

Its like these guys completely ignore the criteria that the committee had in place before this year. They completely ignore that not only is the Acc and Fsu's schedule absolutely ridiculous, their qb is hurt, and they had 2 games to show they could perform like a top 4 team againt a 5 loss Florida and Kentucky who lost to a 3 loss Pitt and a middle of the pack Kentucky. Fsu had 0 td, went 7-30 on 3rd downs and couldnt generate 500 yards on offense in 2 combined games.

Which is kind of ironic coming from an organization that constantly peddles in the evils of 'implicit bias' and the need for 'representation of underserved communities'... They WERE reversed in 2014 - Ohio State got the 4th playoff spot when they were down to their 3rd string QB, AND they had lost early in the season to Virginia Tech at home. So you had a 12-1 Power 5 Champion get in with a 3rd string QB that year, whereas this year you have a 13-0 Power 5 Champion get snubbed.

Now, they love saying Bama beat Georgia. But fail to go into detail and say they beat a nursing home UGA. Brock was about 80%, McKad was on on leg, RaRa was out, a key offensive lineman was out, a key defensive lineman was out, the starting line backer was out. They were playing with TWO feshman linebackers. UGA was a 50% at strength team at best, and Bama just did beat them by 3. Now, the last two years all Georgia fans had to hear was, "well, yall wouldn't have beat Bama in championship game if ONE player hadn't got hurt". Then last year, the same exact thing, "yall wouldn't have won if ONE player didn't get knocked out the game".... Now, Bama win against an UGA team not at full strength, missing players all over the field, again ONLY BY THREE. And they talk as they won against a fully healthy GA. So now Georgia fans, pull the Alabama play. They wouldn't have won if Georgia was healthy, hell if UGA was 85% they would have won that game.
