I got to meet Vincent while he was on a lecture tour once. A truly remarkable gentleman. He came out of the back stage door after the lecture, wearing a large black overcoat. It looked like a scene from one of his movies. I was struck by how tall he was. He walked up to me, extended his hand and said hello. I said, “Good evening, Mr. Price.” He graciously greeted several others that were standing around and then hopped in a limo and was gone.

I saw this as a little kid, and I took it way too seriously, not realizing that it was just a child's imagination. What Vincent imagined I took as real, in the context of the story and felt so bad those things happened to him. These images and others similar, are what silently fueled me growing up, and to just now re-watch this to realize it was just a dramatic kid, that he didn't actually die at the end, is wild to me. This is what gave me the fear of being trapped, and since I got over it (kinda) It's so strange to see its source in a new light. Oh goodness I love it, I love it all.
@CesarMcClendon-ym3mr2 ай бұрын
He could have actually died of a panic attack and or heart attack given how young he was he probably wasn't able to comprehend what he was reading and the constant intake of what he was reading could have caused him to go mad also he could have schizophrenia which would be further fuel to drive him mad which is further fuel to have a heart attack or panic attack

A beautiful man. Charismatic, extremely talented, extraordinary elegant and graceful, with a very expressive voice, humble, decent and modest.. VINCENT PRICE!
@ammitthedevourer73164 жыл бұрын
It’s cool to revisit this as an adult. As a kid, I saw this and felt that Vincent was having some sort of internal turmoil that he expressed best via old school horror media. Maybe his imagination ran too far, or maybe he’s coping with something else and his wife is a metaphor. His mother didn’t understand, and why would she? Adults always think kids are overly dramatic, but they don’t get it! Weren’t they kids once too? What up with that? Now, I see that Vincent is probably just a kid with a vivid, morbid imagination. His “struggles” are him playing, though he’s not too mindful about real world consequences of his actions (digging up the flower bed), as kids often are. In a way I envy him now. Creative expression is less limited when you’re young, at least socially. I know it’s not really all that deep. It’s still interesting to me how perspectives change.
@AliJayCraft3 жыл бұрын
I will always find the short film fascinating. This is exactly why I love horror. Horror is the most expressive genre in all media but is just limited because of how frightening reality and imagination can be.

I have a theory that this boy in the short film is actually Tim Burton. Tim Burton is such a huge fan of Vincent Price, so basically this is a story about him wanting to be his idol, but reality is always getting his way.
