The whole album was wonderful, listened to it a lot in 95, just watching this just now took me back there, half a lifetime away, amazing how music can do that.

This song made a huge impact on me when it came out. I ended up reading New Zealand history for the first time and some novelised stories. I realised that they lied to us at school and that we stole the land at gunpoint. I learned that Te Kooti was a freedom fighter not a terrorist. I learned about Te Whiti and the nonviolent resistance movement he led. And I learned why the Waitangi Tribunal was so very important. I live in Perfidious Albion now and they still don't get that the British Empire was monstrous. Aroha nui Aotearoa. I miss you.

New Zealand is more culturally sensitive than Australia. I wish Australians could be like New Zealand sometimes - more inclusive of First Nations heritage
