Androgynous Absolutely no one, I agree. I find his performance of the songs completely mesmerizing. He had a gift of drawing listeners into another world with music. He seemed to inhabit each song,. Damn those drugs that took him away.

@@bernadette607 " He sung with his heart" It is on his grave. Most people sing with their purse as the main back vocalist. Indeed such a waste of true genius by awful drugs. I hardly ever use the word genius.

Androgynous Genius indeed, I agree. I have listened 100s of times and the depth of aching mingled with pure delight that he evokes in me every time never diminishes. Wow! So glad someone would say that. I was around him a lot, opening for him, hanging out after the gig. I recognized how important he was, His body of work was so small, compared to longer lived artists, but what we got was choice ( to paraphrase Spencer Tracy.) From Wkipedia: It has been reported that Bob Dylan said Hardin was "the greatest living songwriter" after hearing his first album. In a 1980 interview when asked about the Dylan quote Hardin recalled: "Yeah, I played him part of the album one night and he started flipping out, you know. Man, he got down on his knees in front of me and said: Don't change your singing style and don't bleep 'a' blop..." The entire Wiki entry is enlightening and heartbreaking. Judy Garland on stage felt dangerous-you never knew if she'd transport you into another dimension, or if she'd stumble into incoherence. Sadly, Tim was the same.
