My favorite Club Random interaction forever is when he had Kris Jenner/Kardashian on the show and he had a lit blunt in his hand and he stares at her for a while and says "You really do look like Kim Kardashian" and she half laughs and says "well... yes... she's my daughter..." amazing to make yourself look so much dumber than Kris Jenner

There is a normal way to say that, You tell the person, "you know your daughter looks exactly like you I mean she is your spitting image." When phrase that way it's endearing and a compliment. But telling her she looks like her daughter is so goofy the guy's like an alien sometimes.

@BestWorstMusicanEver It doesn't take balls to be a contrarian. It takes balls to stand for something and actually propose solutions instead of just pissing and moaning about everything. Maher "calling out both sides" is really just him opposing everything without having anything to stand for.
@elduderino007
@elduderino007 Жыл бұрын
@BestWorstMusicanEver I can agree with you there, it's better to say something rather than nothing. I just think it's a false statement for Maher to say he's, "pushing back against his party," when he hardly aligns with the left anymore. Also Green Day is peak punk until 21st Century Breakdown and then they became irrelevant. I wasn't going to include American Idiot but I can't give that album up.

Leftists give people the option of feeling stupid and guilty, or playing along and making others feel stupid and guilty. Persuasion plays no part, which makes it all but impossible for you guys to put two and two together. You've literally been trained to attack people who make too much sense. Bill Maher was your guy until he noticed this dynamic and started talking about it just a little bit.

It's been several years since I considered myself anything even close to "a fan" of Bill Maher, and I'm embarrassed that gap of time isn't even far, far longer. even back when I semi-regularly paid attention to him and watched Real Time, I'd somehow compartmentalized how lame it was that he'd routinely get genuinely angry at the audience for not laughing at every single joke that it was the most golden thing they'd ever heard. Barking that they just had a stick too far up their ass or something.
@pjmccall

Same. As the years go by, it's become harder and harder for him to hide his disdain for nearly everyone. For a while, the comedy outweighed the douchiness, but those days are long gone.

@JimmyNuisance
@JimmyNuisance 11 ай бұрын
Tim is like half his age and grew up in the era when that look was basically a uniform. Bill adopted the style out of a "this is hip right?" mindset. For bill it was a choice, for tim’s generation it was "the style at the time". It’s the equivalent of Tim showing up in a full Emo outfit trying to seem down with the kids… Bill is old enough to wear a hawaii shirt with parrots on it. It looks odd when an ancient guy adops the style of people half their age. Calling it out makes sense.

I didn't even think he was insulting his fashion sensibility so much as just contrasting it with the button-up suit on HBO. All of a sudden someone's expecting one thing and gets another... i watch it wondering, "is this going to be the show when he gets too drunk and high around the wrong guest and says or does something that finally goes too far?" At this rate, Club Random is going to get Bill arrested or beat up eventually (god forbid!).

I don't think there's anything wrong with doing the show itself. He's not the problem. Bill is weird. It's never a bad thing to do for the guest.

To Tim Heidecker: Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the Maher/Armisen "Office Hours" interview, which I belatedly discovered today. Bill Maher, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Donald Trump and lots of other popular comics all have the same act. They all play the character of the grumpy old man, the put-upon victim of "these kids these days," who works himself up to high dudgeon and presents himself as the Oracle of Truth -- keeping it real, giving it to you straight, telling it "like it is." Trump and Maher even pretend to be martyrs in the culture war battle for Truth, Justice, and the American Way: "I'm being indicted [or criticized] for you!" Trump says. Maher defends dumb racist jokes as edgy -- just part of his job as a pioneer of comedy. The premise is, "It's funny because it's true," but what they're putting out is neither. We should probably remember that Maher and Ann Coulter used to boast that they were once disco "dancing buddies." Their reasoning is in lock-step step, too, though Coulter's is arguably funnier...

6:59 I suspect Bill wasn't amused but it was more of a "that's just dumb" sort of response...you'd have to be unusually idiotic to take offense to Tim's parodies, they're as harmless as they get, albeit still incisive.
