My Mom was passed away and my Dad is cheap. I was working and so I made things easy. I paid for the whole wedding my self. My in laws paid for the rehearsal dinner and for all the groomsmen and their dates to stay in a hotel if they were from out-of-town. My Dad only paid for his tux rental. My in laws wanted to invite about 20 more people than I had planned for and offered to pay for those 20 extra people. i had my brides maids pick out a dress they could wear after the wedding, so it wasn't a waste of money. If you aren't paying, you don't have a say.

If you are paying, definitely, go for it. But if you have someone else picking up the tab on everything, it would be wise to run some things by them. I imagine there is some limit and if someone's paying they should get some special treatment like having more invites or like what table arrangements should be.
@skyes736919 күн бұрын
Who likes 125 people enough to invite them to a wedding? We had less than 100 which was mostly family from both sides. I think about 10 friends each because that’s the maximum number of people I can tolerate.
@grandgrand675418 күн бұрын
Some cultures have hundreds of guests. I've been to a wedding with 300 invites. In many cultures weddings are massive celebrations where two families come together, not just the ceremony of two lovers. Obviously the groom and bride are priority but things are very different from they are in the west.

Why are parents even involved in the planning of a wedding? Is that a US thing? Over here, the couple each choose their man resp. maid of honour who then make all the plans together with the couple. No one else knows anything about the wedding until the day it happens, except of course for when to be where.
