@@chuckwright8889Hey I'm 65 and I still dig Johnny Quest . In my opinion Johnny Quest was the hippest animated series on T.V. I too am sorry that it lasted for only one season . But as l understand it , the reason why it came to an end was becuz it was costing too much to produce every week . Like theT.V. show The Green Hornet . Both shows were always spending more money than was allotted to them , and as a result it was costing too much to continue making episodes . That's why The Green Hornet was canceled despite one Badass dude named Kato , and becuz of always being over budget that's why Johnny Quest got canceled .
@bufnyfan12 күн бұрын
@@clementjohnson2666 William Dozier (who produced both Batman and the Green Hornet) said he wouldn't commit to another season of The Green Hornet unless ABC expanded the show to a full hour but the network wouldn't commit the money for the show. Van Williams said he was glad the show didn't go on as it was an incredibly difficult show to do both physically and mentally as they were on an incredibly tight schedule to make each episode. Mr. Williams had said he was forever grateful that he met and became very good friends with Bruce Lee (and during the show's run and demanded that more of the storylines include more scenes with Bruce Lee).

@@bufnyfan1 Interesting . Because your understanding of why The G.H. series was canceled and my understanding are admittingly somewhat different . Now I don't recall reading that particular explanation with regards to why The G.H. was canceled . But for what it's worth , the explanation that I have read ( and I've read this on several occasions) was the reason given as to why The G.H. television series was canceled . However I'm willing to acknowledge that the explanation that you read /heard just might be the actual reason as to why it was taken off the air . What can I say.... me , like you , can only go by what we've read or heard 😌 .

@chake463 жыл бұрын
Tim Matheson really had a busy early career with voice overs doing just Hanna-Barbera cartoons. After Jonny Quest and the 26 episodes, he did 65 Sinbad Jr. in 1965, then 42 Space Ghost episodes in 1966 and the following year 1967 20 episodes of Young Samson and Goliath. This was still before any movie or television appearances. Tim's acting really began with spending time with Mel Blanc, Don Messick, Mike Road, John Stephenson, Marvin Miller and many many more. He truly grew and his acting talent was more than obvious!! Even to this day!!!

He also made a TWILIGHT ZONE episode appearance that ended up being deleted from an episode that is rarely rerun now, "A Short Drink from a Certain Fountain".

I was 6 years old when Jonny Quest premiered in September 1964 (Every Friday night at 7:30 on ABC). I adored this show. All my Grade 2 friends would come to school on the following Monday morning to discuss that previous Friday's episode. The creator of Jonny Quest Doug Wildey was a perfectionist and oversaw every detail of each episode and more often than not went way over budget each episode. The ratings were tremendous but unfortunately, ABC wouldn't commit to another season unless the budget was significantly cut. Mr. Wildey to his credit refused to sacrifice quality for saving money and the show ended. I never understood why CBS or NBC couldn't have taken over production at that time. Ultimately Jonny Quest became so popular in syndication that all three American networks at one time carried it on Saturdays on their schedules. In looking back now it's amazing how many of the innovations introduced on Jonny Quest are now commonplace today (cell phones/jump jets/hovercrafts etc).

Quest was ground breaking....I call it the "Miami Vice" of Cartoons....wildly successful, but just too expensive to produce apparently (thank you union rules for animators). It was a classic. Quite a career for Matheson...Quest...Otter...then a character on Burn Notice which was more or less Otter goes to the CIA and becomes bad, loveably bad, but bad......(Burn was awesome series too).
