I sent that same prayer to God myself everyday for years until he took my girl on October 13, 2020 at 38 years old to stage 3 twice negative breast cancer. I miss her every single minute of every single day. My wife and I were Marines and toured together in Afghanistan when we were just best friends. Now I am a father to her 2 beautiful daughters 17 and 15 yrs old. Love them as if they were my biological daughters. The oldest has now been diagnosed with stage 2 germ cell ovarian Cancer. So now I send that same prayer up every night to God for my baby girl. Loved this reaction. Love the channel. Much respect. SEMPER FI.

folks ASSUME she dies without the video (which in this time period is the way it was heard. internet wasn't like today & most ppl didn't have cable tv - so if you heard it, it was solely from the radio).... then, people who see the video ASSUME she lived (☝🏼even those same ppl who previously assumed otherwise) the fact is 💁🏻♀️ we'll never know ..NEITHER is true. it's left open to interpretation. there's ∅ evidence one way or the other (even with the video, IMO, as the video goes back to a visual of the past, which doesn't provide any closure on the conclusion of the current situation whatsoever....but that's just me🤷🏻♀️) short story long - you can not know one way or the other for certain. i find whether (unfoundedly) interpret death vs life is analogous to whethwr you're a "glass half empty* vs "glass half fully" minded individual ......just food for thought.

I was with my wife Amber since she was 13 years old and in 2009 I lost her to the H1N1 swine flu!!! We was together for 17 years and she never got to see our son Chase who was born at 28 weeks and only weighed 2 lbs. He is a healthy 10 year old now and we also had 6 children all together and it has been rough raising them and knowing that she's here in spirit but man would it be nice to share all the special times with her!!! When I here Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefanis Nobody but you it makes me cry because I miss my wife and to this day I still feel the same for her!!!😭😭

Damn dude......H1N1 landed me in the hospital for a few days, it was probably the 2nd time in my life I felt so sick, i was convinced I was going to die. I'm so sorry to hear it took your wife. Hopefully, your children know and understand that she will never leave them. Everytime they think they hear somebody talking to them but it's only the wind that's really their mother speaking to them, reminding them they are loved and cherished (or calling them out for whatever boneheaded choice they made lol). During all this craziness I hope you and your children remain safe and healthy. As a fellow preemie I usually feel the need to remind people that preemies tend to have a weaker immune system even as they grow up. But something tells me, you don't need the reminder. ☺💚

NO, SHE DID DIE. The girl at the end seen with the picnic basket was another little 8 year old girl who is going fishing with the now 8 year old baby, named Johnny like his father, just like the start of the song, basically history repeating with the new generation. THE WIFE DIES, and the story repeats. Seriously, you can easily google the information about the truth of this song and its video.

Matthew Callies The music video shows that Johnny's wife does indeed survive as she is seen in the last scene running to meet Johnny and his little boy with a picnic basket. The song ends with a repeat of the song's opening line: "Johnny's daddy was taking him fishin' when he was eight years old". Format: CD Single Released: March 28, 1994

@@stevenknight4432 WRONG !!! Here is the excerpt from the song wiki : Verse three takes place five years after the second verse. At this point, Johnny and the girl are now (presumably) married and expecting their first child, and the girl is eventually rushed to the hospital to have her baby delivered. The baby, a boy, is safely delivered, but the doctor informs Johnny that his wife is "fading fast" (presumably dying from childbirth complications). Johnny then collapses to his knees and prays to God that his wife survives, even asking that his own life be taken instead of his wife's, as long as she's okay. The music video shows that Johnny's wife does indeed survive as she is seen in the last scene running to meet Johnny and his little boy with a picnic basket.

A perfect example of storytelling in country music that is unfortunately missing from modern music. The old singer songwriter days of the 60’s and 70’s was so great about telling a story and really making you feel what the songwriter was feeling writing the song and that is what is best in all genres of music. You should consider Live Like You Were Dying by Tim McCraw too. It’s a very touching and uplifting song and a good example of how to face adversity. It’s become kind of an anthem for me. Like the man in the song I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer at 43 and man let me tell you that’s like getting hit by a tornado on every level of your being.
