Ramon Santigo, he campaigned for Pres Obama openly. In the country music field it is dangerous to reach out to different races. Most people who listen to this music are very closed minded.
@latinafever69743 жыл бұрын
@@joannbair3166 I'm sure there are a lot of close minded people everywhere but since he took that chance, it speaks to his character. Thanks for.sharing that info.
@bigbadjohn80993 жыл бұрын
@@joannbair3166 There are closed minded people EVERYWHERE, but music is UNIVERSAL. Music is the one thing that should brings folks together. Country Music is a melting pot of different styles and influences from Irish folk songs to the Blues... Hank Williams is considered to be one of the forefathers of country music and he was taught to play and sing by a black man Rufus "Tee Tot" Payne... people have a misconception of country music that the fans are all mindless and racist 3 toothed inbred hillbillies wearing wife beaters- but it just isn't true. Yes, you do have those folks, but you have racist idiots who like any kind of music. The artist who had a number one hit with this song was a Mexican American named "Freddy Fender" who was loved by country music fans all over the world. One of Country Music's biggest legends was a black man Charley Pride, whom was also loved and revered by folks all over the world and was one of RCA's top selling artists of all time. When the king of soul Mr. Ray Charles released his album "Modern Sounds of Country and Western Music", his peers said to him "why are you playing their music"?? implying that country music was "white music"... to which Mr. Charles replied "Music is universal, if I like it then it is my music too" and that Album was Ray Charles top selling album of all time. So the words "most who listen to this music are closed minded" is in itself a closed minded statement. BTW, campaigning for President Obama? How does that even fit in to what you are trying to say here? Who cares? Obama is a politician, voting or not voting for or supporting or not supporting someone's policies doesn't make anyone a racist. Obama's skin color is inconsequential... we need to stop mixing race into everything. If I vote, or don't vote for someone, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the color of their skin, in fact that isn't a thought that would even enter my mind until someone puts it there like you just did. I vote based on policy that I feel will effect myself and my community-if I feel that someone is supporting policy that will positively impact my family and my community, then they will have my vote... I could give a hoot in hell what the color of their skin is, even bringing that into it is infantile.
