Seriously, the back and forth between Tim and the drummer is a demonstration of 2 absolutely amazing musicians. Who the hell has the balls to improvise like that in-front of an enormous crowd? Hilarious and impressive at the same time.

That moment the drummer riffs off the boom mic says everything

That part is pretty sloppy actually. But they're having fun so it works

Tons of bands and artists improvise in front of massive crowds. All your classic rock bands for starters. That was the norm. And the Grateful dead improvised most of their shows around a handful of songs. Same goes for all of jazz, though typically they aren't playing in an arena.

Though you gotta hand it to Tim to have the balls to play w a professional orchestra. Those guys are unforgiving - meaning they are tight so any sloppiness on Tims part would be very evident. Just watch Dave Mustaine biff it when he played w an orchestra.

straught up the best version, his antics with the drummer and the conductor were comedic icing on the musical cake

I love how Tim messes with the drummer through that whole back and forth instrumental part.

This piano solo is different from the other recording... the chords are rhe sane but he us literally improvising sections, within certain boundaries. What a blast!

I've seen a bunch of versions of Dark Side and this one is one of the best, but they are all fabulous. All different. All Tim, all the time.

I adore Tim Minchin, however surprisingly 1st time time I've seen this version of 'Dark Side'! As already mentioned a few times on here, the interaction with the drummer is genius musically by both!

When they both flipped their hair while facing off lmao. Omg that was great!
@ProHobbyjogger6 жыл бұрын
The interplay with Ben Vanderwal (sp?), the drummer, is so fun here. Love the dueling hair flips and the weaponization of the damper. Absolutely no offense to the HO’s drummer, Brad Weber, but although they’re both obviously fantastic musicians, Ben seems to just be having a blast. Very fun to watch.

OMG, I love that drummer and Tim's awesome play back and forth with him! (4:25 - 5:34 ) Like any comedian, I love how Tim does improve with his playing, interactions, and comments within lyrics. Love this version, thanks for the upload! 9:10 - 9:40, freaking hilarious.

Love the Minch! He’s just lovable, talented and just entertaining. So many great songs that I enjoy for so many different reasons. If I could go back in time his concert with the Sydney Orchestra would be a top 3 I would want to have seen.

Given that Tim had also sold out at Royal Albert Hall London for 2 nights (2nd evening was Prince William and Catherine's Wedding Day) !! I'd say he knew what he was doing at The Sydney Opera House

Does anyone know what Tim says to the conductor after the foot slap on the piano?? I think I heard, "I'll talk to you later" - and another person on here thinks he heard "I'll make love to you later" Anyone with any other idea?
@angelinasepulveda2160 Жыл бұрын
Something something "make love to you later or "I'll make it up to you later" I've been wondering the same thing and relistened to it so many times. Who knows.

I think he says "I'll talk to you later" LOL.... Because I doubt the conductor was excepting to be nearly deafened by Tim Foot
