I know that a lot of lead gospel singers of ole did the shhhh... sheeshing thing, but I hope it dies in this season. Most of the time everyone is silent and the musicians are playing softly and the leader goes on a rampage of sheeeshing. I have been singing gospel over 40 years sometimes lead and we have always had hand signals or a designated person to relate to the background. I don't know why, but it irritates me and others I have discussed it with. Willie Neal Johnson was big for doing it. I love him, but come on somebody.
