I’m pretty sure that David knew he only needed one rock for Goliath and the other 4 were for Goliath’s 4 brothers which David did kill during his life as a war king.

David also hung that head in his tent as a trophy for a good length of time. (You thought your kids room stank 😂) And when he ran from Saul after several death attempts on his life ,he ran into the church and asked the prophet/priest do you have any weapons? He was told “only that giants sword you killed years ago”. David took Goliaths sword that was all dusty in the back room and ran again into battle with that sword eye level reminding him of the promises of God.
