It's nice to see John on as a "real" guest, but I'm so worried we'll soon lose this *amazing* small group feel of the show! The quietness, laughter of the crew, Evie doing ANYTHING... it's all so down to earth and feels more personal than a huge live show with... showy stuff.

@Triplemother
@Triplemother 3 жыл бұрын
I feel you on this! I never was able to get on the Zoom train fully, always avoided it if I could. I found it very draining. On the flip side, I can imagine the live interaction with an audience that Colbert misses, he is a public presence and to have that instant feedback multiplied by so many individuals in one room can pretty much be an adrenaline boost for him. Context: I’m an introvert by nature, but I love to write (poetry and other musings) and the few times I dared to recite at an open mic would just BLOW me away always from the crowds feedback. Doing something as bold as managing/influencing a crowd can be a sort of high. (Something i hope to get better at). In the meantime, I’ll enjoy what we have still: our darling Evie and the authenticity of a close knit crew and their cackles and endless giggling. Life seems better in a needfully simple way with those vibes.

Tim Ryan's righteous anger represents what all real and decent Americans have felt about the GQP for years. It is refreshing and exactly what is needed. Our democracy is under continued, direct, and dire threat from the GQP and we need forceful condemnation of this unAmerican fascism from leaders if we are to keep our system of government intact.

Also the episode with Greg Davies and Ryan Gosling where Greg tells the story about how the BBC HR person approached him and Norton at a holiday party and told him because of his height he could qualify as disabled and he could get a handicapped spot, Gosling laughing at it is very funny. As a (american) major lover of UK/Irish standup and TV comedy I generally most enjoy episodes where very popular but not internationally famous UK/Irish actors/comedians interact with giant hollywood celebrities (especially if they aren't british/european and don't really know the local celebrities).

Also, it's going to be more personal atmosphere. No matter what anyone says, hundred people looking at you from the audience changes your behaviour. How, it depends on the person but i've always liked the more casual style that comes with casual one-on-one interviews like the 'Comedians getting coffee'.

OMG This is the best format! I love the intimacy and interaction with the guest and Evie during the monologue! It's like a fun, classy cable access show. I could imagine them having a small audience of like 50 people in a bit bigger space, with the guests on the whole time. But I dread them going back into the Ed Sullivan Theater with all those people and all that space, with short, formulaic interviews - we'll lose all of the intimacy that he's created in this format. I hope he knows how much so many people appreciate the intimacy and the informality gained by this format!

So many people become rude and jaded from doing these jobs and many of the customers' rudeness don't help the situation any. These people aren't really appreciated until we don't have easy access to them. They should get paid better and shown greater appreciation.
