My review of the Tilley T3 hat. This is a well constructed hat which can be used in a number of outdoor activities. The quality and workmanship of this Canadian made hat is hard to beat.

Thanks for taking the time to review it for us! I'm going to hike 500 miles across Northern Spain in the summer heat and I think the Tilley Hemp Hat is going to be my companion now.

I'm not the only one that looks funny with the sides up. Amazon has them now. Took me a few tries to get the right size. Great hat. Thanks for the video.

I am so glad I ran into this video! This is the type of hat that I had been searching for. I ordered a Boonie hat, but they just don't seem to fit my style, but the Tilley hat looks perfect for me! Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video for us!

Hey Tim : I have had my Tiley now since 1990 and it is showing signs of wear n tear but I will not give it up even if I could get a new replacement. Mine is the old white cotton style which is the original unit and I still love it as my favorite bean-cap ! I'm up here in Southern Ontario not far from where Mr. Tiley started all this in Toronto. Back then I paid around $75 for it and today I would not have an issue paying a $100 for another. Ever try his shorts - just as super as the hats !!
@TimsOutpost9 жыл бұрын
PackratCND I agree! It is well worth paying extra for. With summer coming I may have to try the shorts.

Thanks, Tim.. In a FORMER life, I travelled to Flag about 15 times.. I hiked around Oak Creek Canyon and Sedona, and Flagstaff is a WONDERFUL College Town.. My Spouse has never been. so he will get a kick out of it..

It is a quality product. I've used mine for a number of hikes in Arizona... great for shade. Hope your husband has an enjoyable hike in the Grand Canyon.

What about the holes in the hat? Does the sun or rain get in? I just ordered a T3. A few years ago I ordered a T3 wanderer, it was horrible, all bent out of shape, looked worn out, and about 2 sizes too small. I said I would never try Tilley again, but people say such good things about it, and I live in a very hot sunny climate and need a durable everyday hat.
@TimsOutpost4 жыл бұрын
The rain and sun through the holes is minimal and not very noticeable. Unfortunately, I lost my Tilley on a long trip. Time to buy a new one.

@@TimsOutpost I've seen videos saying Tilley's quality went way down. Do you know anything about it?

@@bryandovbergman5654 I haven't heard about that, but I will certainly have to check it out before buying another one.

Great review. Thanks for sharing. How's yours holding up?

You are welcome! The hat is holding up great, even after being dunked in a few rivers and put in the washing machine after hikes on hot summer days.

Newer Tilleys have the ventilation mesh, but this one seems more heavy duty and versatile.
@danielstoddart5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, this is exactly right. I have an older Tilley T2 (sadly discontinued) that I love, but I am not a fan of the Airflow mesh strips and the nylon fabric they use with their new T2 size hat (the LTM2). The old T2 was cotton duck with large brass grommets for ventilation, and it was more durable and a much better looking and wearing hat. I have no idea why Tilley decided to discontinue such a great hat and replace it with an inferior model.
@sandfarmer8923 жыл бұрын
@@danielstoddart I know why. To increase profits for the investor group that bought out Tilley in 2015. They also discontinued the hemp TH4. Most "Tilleys" are now built in China. I won't buy a Chinese "Tilley."

@@sandfarmer892 It's a sad story that happens over and over to a lot of formerly great brands. They get picked apart by the vultures on Wall Street.

Tilley hats are best.

Not anymore. Tilley was bought out by an investor group who are now churning out Chinese made garbage under the Tilley name. They are no longer the same company at all.

My Tilley T3 cotton duck hat was everything you say and more. I traveled all over the world with my Tilley hat and posted Instagram photos, raves and reviews. However my hat was stolen out of my car and no matter how hard I tried, Talley refused to honor their replacement guarantee. As much as I loved my hat, I have not bought another Tilley hat for this reason. Great hat, but just know the replacement warranty is not what it sounds like. I went with a Shelta Hat instead. More features and 20% less money. That said, I still wish I had my Tilley hat back. Thanks for nothing Tilley.

tHIS HAT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE IT WOULD BE AS COMFORTABLE FOR THE DESSERT AS THE Outdoor Research Sun Sombro. If it is made in Canada I assume it is best suited for colder weather than the Outdoor Research Sun Sombro. I live in Mexico and it is hot here. This hat looks like it would be too warm for dessert living. Am I correct? The Outdoor Research as very large vents on each side of the hat versus small holes. Please correct if I am incorrect. What is the model number of this hat just so I can look at it in real life. thanks.

Made in Canada has nothing to do with a hat and it keeping you cool. I’ve owned the Tilley LTM6 hat for 5 years and I live in sunny Florida. This is my daily work hat in the Florida woods, plus I use it when hiking/traveling. Keeps me cool and the hat is in great shap after 5 years. Before purchasing this hat I’d have to buy a new hat every year due to wear and tear. Tilley hats are with the money.
