Hey im one of tim tebows night to shine princessess, as a young lady on the spectrum i was homeschooled, because of my dissbilities and because i was severly bullied. Im so grateful that like tim i was homescholed. I learned at my own pace, i went to dc as 4h student we had community, im so blessed. Tim is not only my protrctor but he is a friend and role model, hes like a coach and through text and prayer god used him to transform my life. You know alot of kids are being disgriminated because of thier disabilities, this needs to stop, maybe the news needs to do stories on this

Jewel Clark, I should have said that was the day my husband agreed to homeschool our children. My oldest child was to start school the following year and since my husband was then on board none of my children have ever entered public school but I definitely hear what you are saying.

we've actually started homeschooling our son bc he is disabled. he was always getting sick, was bullied and teachers tought him nothing at all. since homeschooling he know knows English. science, history and math is challenging but working bon it and his health is a lot better. ignore all the ignorance of homeschooling. they have no clue and not entitled to tell you how to raise your kid. homeschooling is a great and safe Choice. our son loves it and we do too. it beats being called to the school everyday bc noone CA. control our sons mental melt downs.

@@keyverrse California tried to ban home-education around ten years ago. Didn't work out very well. There are certain people in the federal govt. and academia who would love to ban it, but since education is directed at the state level the federal govt. is powerless to ban the practice nationwide.

You have to live in an area that has a private school or cottage school that allows that sort of system. They do exist, but they are easier to come by in larger metropolitan areas.

I’m homeschooling my high schooler. Just join local homeschool groups. You can find them on Facebook or other websites. HSLDA.org has a list of groups and tells you your state laws. Lots of co-ops and museums have homeschool classes. My son does his Marine Biology Class with an actual Marine Biologist at the Seaquarium. They can also do Dual Enrollment.

We have no intention on putting our kids in public school and will homeschool through high school. We have groups in our area that put together homeschool proms and other activities and I see no need to subject my children to the crap that goes on in public schools.

The “hs experience” comes with a lot of things. What do you want you kids to learn in the classroom and from the influences they’ll have surrounding them? Besides the homeschool proms that homeschool groups may put on, your kids can have plenty of great experiences even if they aren’t exactly like the typical school experiences. I don’t feel at all like I missed out because I didn’t go to prom.

Some kids learn slower than others in a school setting there can be up to 30 kids which can make it difficult for any kid who is struggling in homeschool the parent can focus on the struggling child especially if the other children are able to work by themselves.

Being stuffed in a room with 28 other people exactly your same age, having to raise your hand to go to the bathroom, being told you can't ask questions outside the scope of the current chapter, not being allowed to get ahead or behind the average curve, being graded on compliance to a five point rubric, being tested on memorizing facts rather than creativity or understanding or application...ALSO NOT how "real life" works. Unless maybe you work in a factory. Which is why some have coined public education the industrial complex mass education system. Making all our children into good, compliant, thoughtless cogs for the machine.

Few parents have either the subject matter knowledge or the teaching expertise to be effective educators. Home schooling is about religious indoctrination. Period.

You're simply showing your ignorance. These days parents need very little "subject matter knowledge" if any at all when home educating. An average homeschooling convention can boast 600+ booths offering curriculum with options of anything from a full teaching script to professionally produced video lectures where an expert in the field is lecturing/teaching. And although the majority of families homeschool for faith-based reasons, around 35% of families cite no religious affiliation at all, a percentage that has and is still growing steadily each year. When considering the current political climate in the United States, coupled with the failing numbers that plague the public school system, one does not need any level of "expertise" to figure out why famiies are turning to homeschooling. Educate yourself...
