From the MV fandom site. Truman didn't follow Hammer's music direction , he came up with his own original music. His background was more rock-based with guitars and drums and colder synthesizer sounds which adds to the darker theme of season 5. I think it's cool he invented his own sounds.

Me too. I mean, of course everyone wishes Jan hadn't left, but he did and Truman did the best he could and he was trying to do his own thing. I respect him for that. There's some really good music in Season 5 in my opinion.

I'll be honest, when i saw Season 5 on original transmission I had no idea Jan had left the show (I'm a UK viewer) and it was quite a shock to see a new composer for the series who had such a different style and at first I was not happy about the change at all. Then over time i began to appreciate Tim's style especially some of the very emotional chords he produced for certain episodes and now I really like his work for the show.

Jesus Christ! thank You for this song! I was able to watch the end of this episode a dozen times just to listen to this "theme". I dream of the day when a CD comes out with all such tracks playing in the background from all 5 seasons. Thank you again and best regards!

Things are great, thanks! Hope they are for you too. I do have the entire series on Blu and I really, really hope we get a 4K version in the future as well. If it's done right, Vice could look pretty spectacular in ultra HD.

@@martycastillo5231 agreed man! The show was shot in 4K but they didn't have the technology back then to release it as that blu ray is fine for now. But yeah I wanna see it in 16:9 full screen format. Oh yeah, follow Don Johnson's fan page on Facebook, he is talking about doing a miami vice mini series and it will pick up right off where freefall ended! He already has done a nash bridges reunion show. Now we can only get the plot of the new Miami vice picks up off of Ricos lost son. Don Johnson is still in amazing shape for his age it's unbelievable!

This isn't Jan, it's Tim Truman. Jan took most of Season 4 off and was assisted by John Petersen. He left the show completely after season 4 and then Truman took over for Season 5.
