I wonder if any of these people on these comments can even play this song at this speed instead of talking crap as usual and comparing to stupid jazz drummers
@jonahmartinez637410 жыл бұрын
I play both jazz and metal. Jazz is harder to play overall. It requires dynamics and techniques that are simply not present in metal. Metal demands more physical requirements while jazz requires knowledge of music theory.
@isiscruz907510 жыл бұрын
I play jazz and Latin jazz. It's not that hard... Pete Sandoval also plays classical. Tim yeung death metal drummer plays jazz. George kollias death metal drummer plays jazz. And many more. It's not hard. Add long as you're fast got a good ear for the beat can do drum rolls your fine. Been doing it for awhile. Idk any jazz drummers that can do this only mention notes and rudiments. Big deal
@jonahmartinez637410 жыл бұрын
Isis Cruz Pete plays classical piano. I'm friends with Pete. Now, the easiness depends on what you're playing and how experienced you are at your instrument. Jazz isn't as simple as having a good ear and playing rolls and rudiments, get real. Jazz isn't something you just "play", it requires years of training. It's a completely different feel than any other genre of music. I've seen those guys "play jazz", and they aren't very good. They play the notes "correctly" but they lack the flow, dynamics, movement, and grace that Jazz needs. I can play Tom Sawyer note for note but I can't play it in the same flawless way as Peart. Feeling is everything. Besides, any smart drummer will tell you that understanding rudiments and theory are EXTREMELY important to a great musician. Knowing rudiments, for example, provide a giant range of possibilities for fills and beats. All I see from most metal drummers are the same single stroke rolls that get pretty boring after a while.
@isiscruz907510 жыл бұрын
I agree on your point most metal drummers do same but Pete Sandoval he mixes it up. I like jazz cause of the odd timing involved the odd signatures you can play. It's endless just like metal music. Our depends on the player. But how you know Pete? Anything else he knows about music most fans don't know??
Apart from the Jesus-thing: He had to undergo surgery because of a severe disc herniation.

but he plays shows with Terrorizer now, so it's the Jesus-thing mostly apparently

2:56 tom roll, one-handed cymbal choke and off-beat accent - Fuuuuuck. I'm sorry, Pete was a pioneer, but Tim Yeung is a better drummer in every possible way.
@Ultrabrutalni10 жыл бұрын
Sorry dude, but nothing spectacular. Every above average drummer can play this today. There are plenty of them out there, check it out. Technically, you can compare Yeung to Sandoval, since both of them played in the same band, same songs, but Yeung belongs to later generation of extreme drummers, therefore I would be surprised if he hadn't put some of the "modern" touch to old Morbid Angel songs. Sandoval is among the best in his generation and that stays as a fact. Cheers.
@HabAnagarek10 жыл бұрын
Ultrabrutalni Wait what? Who said it was spectacular? And what's to be sorry about? And what's this about a "fact"? Cheers.

wow, his kicks are so sloppy. I'm surprised, he is usually very on point.

Some of those accents and fills shows he wasn't really into the song.
