Good roads around there, had a demo from woods before

Absolutely. Some of my favourite roads, they're really nice and helpful in Woods too.

Great content mate. I tested the bike yesterday and the street cup. Really fell in love with the r as I suspected.

Thanks mate. Yeah I fall in love with a lot of the bikes I test but I really did like the Thruxton, meets a lot of my tastes.

Am close to your size and I plan to get one in the near future. Can you flat foot it?
@RarefiedRoad7 жыл бұрын
I could just about flat foot it yes. It rides fairly high but you shouldn't have any issue manouvering it.

I'm puzzled by how you can be at half a tank and still have 107 miles to go. This is what I get when it's full... Could it be because I'm always riding in Sport mode?
@RarefiedRoad7 жыл бұрын
I actually don't know the answer to that one, mainly because I actually didn't take note of the miles remaining, they just gave it me with enough fuel and off I went. Sport mode will always give you less mileage than road mode but it may also depend on where you are riding, town and city mileage drinks fuel far faster than open country roads. Should get about 140 miles from the reviews i've seen though.

Thanks! It's true I ride in denser areas. Cheers!

112 N-m = 82.5 ft-lb. Google is so wonderful. You forgot to talk about how fantastically beautiful the Thruxton is. I wish it weighed 75 lbs less.

Rarefied Road what gloves are you using in the video? btw i ordered a thruxton r last friday, cannot wait!! (Fatsoenlijk is my 2nd account)
@RarefiedRoad7 жыл бұрын
Good stuff. I'll bet you can't wait to start riding it. The gloves are from a company called goldtop, it's a small British company, we sell a lot of their stuff at the bike shed in Shoreditch, not sure of the product name but their website can be found here www.goldtop.co.uk/

Foot pounds lad, foot pounds. Not Nm. You’re British aren’t you. Nm..ghessh. A stock Thruxton 1200 has 71.44 ft lbs torque & 85.68 bhp at the rear wheel on a dyno. Top Guy Martin impression btw. Nice work. Good points made, professional presentation.

Why not go for the R...well: 1. Black swingarm looks better on the S 2. Black triple clamp looks better on the S and reflects no glare at the rider 3. Gold and yellow on a retro bike pahleeze 4, British racing green is the color this bike should be. Only offered on the S 5, M50 calipers are great for shedding the heat of 170 hp bikes on a track. They really don't do anything for this one. I can stop the S on a dime with one finger. 6. The Ohlin's rear shock requires a spring compression machine just to change the silly preload. And it's setup like a brick from the factory. 7. Fatter grips on the S are more comfortable 8. Pirelli Angels on the S are as good as anything on the street and will last twice as long as the R's repli-racer tires, to say nothing of working better in cold and rain 9. Chrome exhausts look better and more period correct 10. Because it costs a bunch less and you won't look like your mechanic got confused and accidentally bolted a Panigale suspension to a Bonneville.

I take it you bought the R then? :p That's a pretty comprehensive list of reasons, I'm just impressed with shiney trinkets so I side with the R but they both use the same engine so ultimately either one will make you happy, I'm glad you were so discerning with your choice.
@saddle8bag7 жыл бұрын
And I forgot that to add that stupid tank strap which is a nicely painted stripe on the S. Either way, they are great bikes, but hey, you asked ;)

Why not go for an R? 1) the standard matches my man bun better in instagram pictures 2) I saved $2000 going with the standard , which I used to buy five Gringo helmets (one in each color to match my mood) with bubble shields (duh), 5 faux vintage Ace Cafe t-shirts (color matched to my helmets), 3 pairs of cuffed jeans, and had enough left over to buy a '73 Honda 125 basket case that will sit in my garage for years but I'll tell all of my friends that it's my vintage cafe racer project 3) who needs adjustable rears when I never go over 40mph on my way to Starbucks 3) shiny things aren't vintage so shiny things suck 4) what's a track?
@saddle8bag7 жыл бұрын
1) To have a man bun, I'd need hair and I've never used "instagram." 2) I actually save about 3 grand and I only own full face Shoei and Arai helmets 3) Who needs adjustment when 99% of the people buying them have no idea how to adjust them properly to meet their needs. 3a) The Thruxton is nod to a race rep of the same name and basic look from 1965. Think it ran thru 69. Shiny is fine. Those bikes had chrome on them, but not gold forks and yellow shocks. With faux carbs, the R just looks confused. 4) A track is a place for high horsepower bikes to circle around over and over trying to improve lap times. Though the Thruxton was such a bike in the mid 1960s it's really not today. MUCH better bikes around for that game. The Thruxton is a terrific streetbike though. On the last note, the Standard actually has a very taut suspension that isn't prone to wallow much with the proper preload setup even cornering hard at high speed. The biggest place the R would shine over it is over shitty city streets like one might encounter riding to Starbucks. The standard suspension tends to feel like it locks up a bit over potholes and such that overwhelm its lesser damping circuits. In any event, Wilbur's Suspension makes some proper looking bits that have all the modern tech that one could get for about a grand if they can't take a little pounding.

saddlebag triggered. Keep justifying not coughing up the extra to get the R. It's head over shoulders a better bike than the standard. I have just as much fun on the track with mine R as I do my GSX-R 750.

I love this bike, ... but am I the only one who hates the yellow and gold accents on it? Yuck!!!
