Timber! Lumbering in the Saginaw Valley

My great aunt told me and my sister about this. Her granddad (my great great granddad) was a foreman at a lumbercamp near saginaw. I don't remember what all she said, but i remember her saying that he would give his men a single shot of whiskey at the end of the day to 'thin the blood'. Very nice video

Interesting view into the early years of Saginaw and an informative look at the industry that created what was the third largest community, at the time, in Michigan. The history of this great city is something to be relished as a part of not only the State of Michigan but, recognizing the significant impact on our nation through the production of wood and coal products.

Thank you for your presentation Mr Trombley, fascinating learning about the cultures that preceded us , I wish they all would have been more conservative on the resources more respectful of God's creation. Anyway I would like to know if anyone sees this about a dock or all those pilings sticking up out of the river on the northeast side of the bascule RR bridge and the property or section of land north of the bascule bridge to the stone dock between 1st and 6th streets where the ship's turn around, does anyone know what was there or the history or pictures of that spot?
