I place the bar in a vice. Keeps the saw still when I'm turning the sharpener. Less wiggle. Good video sir. 👍👍

That looks like a very easy way to sharpen a chainsaw blade for someone who is new to using a chainsaw. Very practical video.

Yeah she's sharp ,I almost bought one of those years ago but didn't cuz I didn't have the money to. I have those Stihl sharpeners and like them. Nice video I never seen one used before . I had a muddy mess up here with all the snow melting in a day , I was wondering what the cows are doing to your fields . Todd
@RussWilson2 жыл бұрын
We are doing well with the cows. I moved them to the south side of the farm. There are trees shading the field so the snow didn't melt off. If we were out where there isn't any snow it would be bad. Thanks for watching!

Be sure you buy a Timberline made by Timberline and NOT a cheaper knock-off. Some sites show a Timberline but actually ship a cheap knock-off that doesn't work as well.
@RussWilson Жыл бұрын
I have heard that from some other folks. Thanks for the heads up and thanks for watching!!!!

Will this work on smaller chainsaws? I have the Stihl MS180.
@RussWilson2 жыл бұрын
Yes it will just need to get the right size bur for it most of the time they come with four different sizes.
@mithall41982 жыл бұрын
That's a nifty little unit. I'm using a harbor freight electric sharpener. It does ok, but I think the chains would last much longer with the Timberline.
@RussWilson2 жыл бұрын
I've of a few people using the hf sharpener. Seem to like them. This unit makes a super sharp chain. Thanks for watching!!

Thanks again for all your videos! I never saw one of those chainsaw sharpeners. I do have a 2 in 1 chainsaw sharpener. It works pretty cool.
@RussWilson2 жыл бұрын
This sharpener would be great for the person that doesn't run a saw all the time. Thanks for watching!!
@CaptainRon5422 жыл бұрын
I bet if you used the Stihl 2 in 1 sharpener first to take the raker down then use the Timberline you would have almost new chain
@nygiant23702 жыл бұрын
Ok, I'm sold. You mentioned that you were able to find this online for $39, where?
@RussWilson2 жыл бұрын
I have it listed in my amazon store. Here's the link a.co/i5luCLC It is in the group of logging things. It is $41. now the one that was $39 is not available now. Good luck!!

that's the chinese knock off one for that cheap. Everyone is saying it's not even close to the real deal. What do you think? @@RussWilson

Ive seen them on eBay and the sthil sharpener but I paid about €50 for the sthil saw sharpening tool

I bought one many years ago - I now use hand files.
@markwriter26985 ай бұрын
I did too. The Timberline is slow and had to adjust the stop for every tooth. Turns out the timberline sharpens the point of the tooth on one side and the heal of tooth on the other. To be fair I’m giving it one more try but this is a long time consuming process. I think the two-in-one is a better idea and value if you want to get things done.
@apistosig41735 ай бұрын
@@markwriter2698 I would regard the timberline as a honer moreso than a sharpener
@nygiant23702 жыл бұрын
I see it now, thanks! Just one question though, this sharpener is made by NKVDGVD, not the Timerbline that you reviewed, have you personally used this sharpener and is it of comparable quality and performance?
@RussWilson2 жыл бұрын
I have not used that sharpener. I would not be afraid to. The sharpener is very simple. So I would think the quality would be close to the seem. Good luck!! Keep me post how it does for you.

No! Timberline is US made. Chinese knockoffs are cheap and so are their sharpening bits. Pay to play or get nickel and dimed forever after. Timberline carbide will allow at least 40 sharpening before having to be replaced.

Don’t waste your hard-earned $35 on a cheap knock-off imitation. They are junk.

the knockoffs are total junk and a complete waste of money. so, if you buy one and find this out the cost of the timberline just went up.
@greenman7202 жыл бұрын
The ones you see for $30 are cheap Chinese knock-off that are not great. Always use the original from timberline.
@tomsmith4484 Жыл бұрын
Exactly! You will be sorry if you buy the knockoff. The ones from timberline are well made in usa and the cutters are sized to your chain.

You should sharpen both sides of the chain if you're going to demonstrate the sharpener. The cheap knock offs are useless

I appreciate your video. However, the $39 sharpener is a Chinese knockoff. There are a ton of them, and I am sure some are pretty good, but they are not a Timberline.
@RussWilson Жыл бұрын
You are right there are ton of these out there some good some not so good. I have a $39 dollar it's hard to tell any difference from the timberline. Like most everything you get what you pay for. Thanks for watching and the comment!!
