☕ Timbertrain Coffee ☕ How To Make Slow Drip Cold Brew on Aeropress

In this video, Griffin walks us through on how to make slow drip cold brew on an Aeropress!
This process requires a bit of DIY to use with your Aeropress and produces a cold brew that is more acidic and clear than a regular, immersion method cold brew.
This method takes 1-3 hours instead of the 12+ hours that an immersion method cold brew would take, and the coffee is brewed with a bed of coffee and water sitting in the Aeropress with drops of cold water dripping onto it from the ice + water bottle portion that you will be making.

MATERIALS NEEDED:
Aeropress

Scissors
Aeropress Filters

STEPS + RECIPE:
Cut off bottom of water bottle to make hopper
Poke hole in the centre of the lid
Take out Aeropress plunger
Pre-wet filter & put in place
Add 38g of coffee once placed on scale
Take another filter, cut down slightly so it can fit inside Aeropress (acts as s dispersion screen for even water distribution.)
Dose 100g of Ice
Tare - Add 400g of water (might not fit all at once, can come back and add more)
Let water drip through slowly, may take 1-3 hours

Great video! I've been doing this method for years and it works really well. Although as it's me I simply HAD to be extra and I do it with a Trinity One instead of an Aeropress!

A couple hints for the filter paper: 1) cut a single straight line from edge to center and overlap slightly, and it will fit just fine. Faster and simpler; 2) take the rubber portion off the plunger, "stick" the wet filter on it, and use that to place the filter on top of the coffee (the filter shouldn't be too wet, or it won't release from the plunger when it touches the grounds).

Also (only a little sorry about being pedantic): it isn't like percolation, it *is* percolation.

When i push the coffee into a volcano shape, i dont get dry spots in the ground coffee (better extraction). I also add strong tea to the ground coffee and get "dirty chai" like results! Yum. Thanks for the video! (Also the extra filter paper did not work for me.)

I've been playing with this for the past year or so and it makes INCREDIBLE cold brew... when I can get it to work. Often times I found it really hard to keep the flow rate steady. The hole in the cap either stops the dripping completely or picks up a pace and floods the aeropress. I still haven't found a good consistent way to make it work every time. I have to crack this for summer 2021!
