I love the Timbrens. Had a 2005 Excursion with air bags that kept failing. Switched to a set of Timbrens and loved them. I am now having a set installed on my 2019 G3500 Express van.

Well done Andy! I put these on my 2007 Tacoma about seven years ago. I pull a 25 foot Jayco X 23 f And it helps support the camper tremendously. you do still get some bounce going over bumps but they stabilize your load much better than your regular bump stops. I now I have a 2005 Ford excursion and I’m pulling the same camper but plan on upgrading to a bigger camper next season. I will be buying these for my excursion just to help out with any bottoming out and the leveling. I would check out SD truck spring for anyone looking to make a purchase of these. They have always been really fair with me as far as the pricing goes. I just bought some shocks and the front steering stabilizer and I got a heck of deal from them. Thanks again for the input Andy. God bless you guys! Had to update my words. Speak to text. I need to proof read twice.

G Man thanks for the response, I want to make a follow up video on these soon, I have gotten a little more comfortable and used to them now, I have over 3,000 miles on them at this point. And I feel even more confident about them now! God bless y’all as well!

Thanks for your great review, I also got a Timbren & it's awsome! It's zero maintenance & hassle free so there's really no reason switching with an airbags in future.

Josh Meyer I’m researching these Timbrens for my Ram 1500. How it the ride quality when pulling your camper? I have a 33’ 6,500 lbs camper.
@j79meyerify

@@shaynegonzalesoutdoors they made a significant difference in squat and improved the ride quality while towing. I believe at first I noticed a slight difference when driving unloaded and hitting bumps but nothing significant I would say they are definitely a good option especially considering cost effective options

A buddy of mine installed a set on his F450. Only complaint he had was the way the truck was weighted up it made the timbrens sit about 1/2” off the axle and he experience a rough slap when the truck hit bumps. Once he loaded it down a little heavier it smoothed it out
@AndyGarcia-ch1ci
@AndyGarcia-ch1ci 6 жыл бұрын
TermiteBenny yeah that’s what I kept hearing but I haven’t experienced any difference. Idk it it’s just my truck or what. My Duramax is an 06 with now 208k Miles. All original suspension and i tow a good bit. I would imagine that an f450 would have a much stiffer rear suspension than a 3/4 ton. But who knows. That seems to be a common complaint

Good review man. I operate a commercial light duty hotshot & transport business and I run an 01 Ford F350 srw truck. And I upgraded my springs to HD versions of OEM springs which is a 6 leaf pack, plus I actually just installed a set of Hellwig helper springs that U Bolt on top of the factory spring packs which act pretty much the very same way a timbren or airbags would. They only come into play when the suspension is under a heavy load and helps exert force upwards to help keep the truck level when under pressure. I do a ton of towing with my truck, I own a 10,000 lbs GVW pintle hook trailer and tow everything from farm tractors, 3/4 ton trucks, vans, cars, construction equipment etc on that trailer and it gets heavy, plus I tow a 30' triple axle gooseneck sometimes as well for larger stuff. You gotta have some sort of suspension boost in a truck if you tow with it often, makes it way easier on the truck and the operator to have more than enough setup for what the job needs.

sirkingdra absolutely man. Even if you’re not towing 20,000 lbs +, I think if you tow often having that extra help in the back Makes a big difference.i really need to get on here and make another review on them now that I have more time in them, they’re still absolutely worth the money if you ask me. It’s hard to beat that $220 price tag!

If your rear shocks are bad the Timbren then will give a harsher ride unloaded. So make sure your rear shocks are good.

Dive Bar Casanova Timbrens shouldn’t even be touching unloaded. Shocks don’t control ride height, springs do.

If your feeling bounce when loaded heavy you may need a beefier shock with better valving suited to heavy weight. Down side of this is a stiffer ride when not loaded.

Towing my 11,000lb 5th wheel my stock 2018 Ram Tradesman 2500 crew cab Cummins sits dead flat. I put air bags on it to help with rough or bad highways when needed. If I had it to do over again I’d go with Timbrens or Sumos just due to price and simplicity.

Thanks for taking the time to make this. I guess I'll try em out. It seems like someone could come up with something simple like this that would absorb the shock, but could slowly take back their shape, instead of giving it back like a trampoline. But I'm not a scientist. As long as the ride is good without a load I'll be happy.
@AndyGarcia-ch1ci
@AndyGarcia-ch1ci 6 жыл бұрын
matt22blaster what kind of vehicle do you have? Yes it should be fine if you follow the instructions, like I said there should be a gap between the axle and timbren when unloaded, to allow axle to travel freely over bumps without hitting the timbren. I just got back yesterday from towing my tractor about 250 miles each way to Panama City to help with the hurricane clean up. The timbrens performed terrifically!

@@AndyGarcia-ch1ci that's awesome! I know they can use the help. I'm in Southeast Texas and we just got slapped by Harvey last year, every hand helps. I'm driving a GMC 2500 6.0l gas. Its a 2016 and the bump stops seem to look a little bigger than the older models, but not quit as big as what you have. I still sag past level with a big load. I only carry a load two or three times a week, so I think these might be perfect. I understand what you're saying about using it without the spacer so there's a gap.

They are good if you have a load, they suck if its unloaded. I remove mine when Im not towing. 1/2” gap unloaded and you think going over a bump isnt gonna hit it? Let me take you for a ride in a 1/2 ton. Your 3/4 may be different cause its already beefed up.
@AndyGarcia-ch1ci
@AndyGarcia-ch1ci 6 жыл бұрын
Chris Ecoboosted yeah I have no problem whatsoever with my 3/4 ton. And I tow so much it would be way too much work to swap them out every time I am not towing. I have heard your complaint so many times but like I said I just haven’t experienced it! Either way, $215 can’t go wrong

I had Timbrens on two different vehicles. One was a 2002 Expedition and the other was a 2006 Durango. There was definitely a difference in the empty ride. The Durango was so bad, I had to take them off. On the Expedition, it was noticeable, but not that bad.

Hey Andy thanks for the review I bought Timbren SES for my 2008 trailblazer. i tow a 16 ft 3500 lbs enclosed cargo trailer with 2 HD bikes that weigh about 900 lbs each. Last year I had a hell of a time with handling and a major dip in back of truck. Im installing tomorrow and going to Daytona on Sunday. I hope to also improve my gas mileage. Did you get better gas mileage towing?
@AndyGarcia-ch1ci
@AndyGarcia-ch1ci 5 жыл бұрын
Good to hear man! I hope they work out good for you. I couldn’t tel you about the gas mileage since mine is a work truck and I don’t have the instantaneous MPG read out. But it definitely improved handling and comfort while towing. I’m sure that by the time you read this you’ll have had them installed but let me know what you think. I’d like to know what other people think about them. So far I have maybe 30k miles on them and they have been good for me. I keep saying I’m going to do a follow up but I keep forgetting to bring the camera with me. Safe traveling!

When you hit a big bump with Timbrens you WILL hit them and they are noticeable. BUT....on ordinary good roads you will notice nothing over stock. On my 1500 there's roughly 2" between the Timbrens and the frame.

Quick question. I have a 2015 Tacoma 4x4 crew cab short bed lifted 2.5" with 33" tires. Just added some brand new Bilstein 6112s up front and 5160s in the rear. Would the Timbrens help me even if I never tow or are they another part I dont need?
@AndyGarcia-ch1ci
@AndyGarcia-ch1ci 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah you don’t need them man! When the truck isn’t under a heavy load they act as a a stock bump stop. So basically if you’re not towing or hauling heavy they are not doing anything. So no need for them! Thanks brother!

gypsy sonny denali tx i would say if the gap between the axle and the timbren is within spec I would leave it as is. I can’t remember exactly what the spec was but I think it should be .5”- 3/4” but I can’t remember exactly. The axle should be free to move up and down without hitting it when you have no load on the truck. I know with my truck I can hook up my empty 22’ big Tex which weighs about 3,100lbs and that’s enough to make the truck sit on the axle. But with lighter trailers I have had to actually put weight on the trailer for it to sag the back of my truck. How much of a gal do you have on there now?
@AndyGarcia-ch1ci
@AndyGarcia-ch1ci 6 жыл бұрын
gypsy sonny denali tx truthfully I think I would say the more gap the better, as long as the weight of the trailer (loaded or unloaded) is enough to actually rest on the timbren

The timbre snare good man, as I mentioned in another comment I really need to make a follow up video, I’ve had then for months now and thousands of miles, and I have a larger and heavier trailer. I’m still very pleased with them! I’ll try to make the follow up video soon brother. But as said well worth the $220 or whatever they were

How’s the bouncing? With the timbrens? I have a 5900 travel trailer I tow with 1500 Chevy
@AndyGarcia-ch1ci
@AndyGarcia-ch1ci 6 жыл бұрын
Miguel IPad what do you mean bouncing, with or without a load? Towing with a load, there’s no bouncing as I’ve upgraded my trailer to a longer one capable of hauling my tractor, the bouncing before was due to too much tongue Wright with the little trailer I had. Now there’s no bouncing whatsoever, rows like stock except it doesn’t squat anymore. So you feel like you have a lot better steering and more confidence in pulling the weight.

Your review regarding unloaded is 100% false. I have a 2019 GMC 2500 that rides (prior to the install) like a Cadillac, After the install unloaded ( I live on a country road which is rutted and bumpy) like it has no suspension at all! It practically bounces off the road!! I put them on because I tow a 12k 5th wheel. I feel the timbrens do aid while loaded, it tows great and limited my loaded squat to 1.25 inches which I love. the install is super easy,,, to the point that I am thinking about putting the factory bump stops in for daily driving (I only haul the camper 8-10 times a year) and reinstalling the timbren for trips. I do like the price and quality of the product,,, but daily empty driving is super hard!!
