Out of curiosity, next to that 14 inch macbook pro, could you also fit a mirrorless camera alongside it? (like a a6700)

when you say "the hook and loop system on the flaps" - do you mean the velcro? or what are you referring to there

Velcro is a brand name. I don’t think they use Velcro specifically.

Just out of curiosity, but are you having issues with the adjustable strap leaving, like, entirely too much excess strap hanging down when you have it cinched up tight? Mine hangs like a solid 2 feet below my bag. I feel like I'm missing something, but I can't really find a good way to have that excess strap folder up or stored anywhere.

I haven’t been using this bag as a daily, but when I do I walk with the bag behind me. Like how I show in the video, I have the large shoulder strap mostly over my chest with the thinner curved part on my shoulder. Everything seems well sized except I haven’t truly sorted out what to do with the long dual expandable straps. I reached out to Timbuk2 and they said there’s no preferred way and like what I did with them.

@EgonSpenglersTwinkie I just returned a bag for this very reason. Thought I was just being stupid and couldn't figure it out until I came across your comment. But the 2 ft dangly strap was a deal breaker for me. My old Timbuk2 messenger bag's quick release strap was so much better!

@@RaoulReal If it helps, I figured it out. I'm not sure why they changed the design like this, but I'm pretty sure the intended fix is to tuck the extra strap length into these small pouches on either side of the bag. Those pouches weren't there in previous iterations, and the ability to adjust the strap length where the strap meets the bag wasn't there either. It ended up working for me, though I really have to say, I don't know why they changed it in the first place. The shoulder strap on the old design was perfect, IMO.

Just a tip, I used it in most of my bags. The trick is to get a velcro strap. Fold the dangling strap twice or as many as to how short you want it to be then use a velcro strap. Dangling strap solved.

are the previous timbuk2's bags buckle also made of aluminum? or it's just this recent one? my country doesnt have this new version

Just wondering, does the 14" MacBook fit snug in the small size? Looking to get one for it soon and an XS for an iPad.

My 2023 14” MBP fits well in my small bag. It’s not overly padded so if you don’t mind that then it’s fine for a laptop.

Not liking the change of the location of the adjustable length shoulder strap adjuster. As a left handed user (meaning the shoulder strap goes over my right shoulder), that metal adjuster would be on my spine, rather than in front of my chest. The prior version was a lot more discreet.

Understandable. I think they have other bags that are considered left or right handed, and I don’t see this being worn on the other side as easily.

the website says this newer model has a reversible strap so you can swap it for left handed use

How padded is the laptop pocket?

Not much. It’s a couple of millimeters inside but nothing to the exterior. This is not described by Timbuk2 as a laptop bag though this is a laptop sleeve. I could walk around with my MacBook in there but I wouldn’t trust anyone else to carry it in there. Hope this helps.

Would you happen to know the exact length of the laptop pocket? I'm looking to replace my Timbuk2 Sunset Messenger and gleaning from the Timbuk2 website the New Classic Small appears to be smaller than the Sunset, but the Medium seems way too big. Other reviewers list dimensions inconsistent with the website.

Not even close. You do not submerge this. It does have a full waterproof liner. So it will do you fine in rain provided you have the flap closed tight.

Copying Manhattan portage. Cordura is inferior material. Should be at least canvas.
