The video uses an example of carrying materials or other employees on a flight incidental to employment. If the pilot is only compensated for his/her travel-not for the materials or the other employees, it seems that carrying them would be permitted.

I would certainly hope so because flying somewhere on company business while carrying your company owned laptop computer is technically speaking transporting property. Vague regulations open the door for an overzealous official to make your life hell.

Again the "Common purpose" comes up. Where is that coming from? Cite the FAR please.

Although it is not in the regs, it is case law and addressed in AC 61-142
