Hello, here's something a bit different from me, it's the Crisis Mission Mode from the PS2 Time Crisis 2 port.
Ports of light-gun games usually have some extras to increase the replay value and to stop getting poor reviews. Namco added quite a lot of extras to Time Crisis 2, and the Crisis Mission Mode is a well-made extra.
The Crisis Missions are really short scenes all with a quota to reach, a bit like in Point Blank. Most of the requirements are to shoot all the enemies or to score a certain amount of points, alongside not being allowed to shoot a civilian or take any damage. Some quotas are much more difficult, especially missions 3-ex and 5-ex, and I sure spent much more time on some of the missions than the others!
With mission 3-ex, you have to shoot every enemy 3 times quickly or you will fail the mission, the shooting them 3 times quickly stops you from delaying the last 2 chase shots to combo link, making the mission harder for me as I have to play differently to how I would normally do.
And likewise with mission 5-ex, that one you have to get 50 hits without missing, and you cannot hide, making it so you have to shoot some enemies very quickly. Because of the accuracy requirement, it is easier to shoot the enemies in the body, because it makes the chase shots easier.
You only have to clear 4 of the first 5 missions per day to unlock the following day but to unlock 'final mission 2', you have to clear every other mission first.
To add even more replay value, there are silver and gold medals, that are awarded if you meet score targets. Some of these targets are hard to achieve without understanding the scoring system Time Crisis 2 has, the 'rules' section on the main menu gives a basic explanation of the scoring system.
The requirement display for the silver and gold medals is quite small on the screen, so I've made it much more readable. Must admit I had to check and change some of them because the 5 and 6 look the same when using some deinterlace filters. I've also cut out the loading screens between the missions too.
To unlock the Crisis Missions mode, you have to clear Time Crisis 2's arcade mode first.
