Day after day and month after month I keep hearing people say "oh it's bc the offense isn't suited to him, oh it's the oline, oh it's that Chubb isn't there, oh they needed another good receiver." Dead cap: Watson's dead cap value is over $200 million, meaning the Browns would still owe him money even if they cut him. 2025 and 2026 cap hit: Watson's cap hit for 2025 and 2026 is $72.935 million. 2027 cap hit: Watson has $26.9 million in void dead cap for 2027. Cutting Watson: Cutting Watson would result in a large loss of cap space. For example, releasing him after June 1, 2025 would result in a $26.935 million cap charge for 2025 and another $53.835 million for 2026. Trading Watson: Watson has a no-trade clause, so it's unlikely that another team would want to trade for him. The Browns would also still have dead cap to deal with.
