With normal contracts, you can cut guys to stop their contracts from impacting the salary cap. With the guaranteed contract, the Browns have to eat every single penny of Watson’s contract, even if he’s cut.

Cutting Watson: Cutting Watson would result in a large loss of cap space. For example, releasing him after June 1, 2025 would result in a $26.935 million cap charge for 2025 and another $53.835 million for 2026. Trading Watson: Watson has a no-trade clause, so it's unlikely that another team would want to trade for him. The Browns would also still have dead cap to deal with.
