I retired from a plant where we did similar panels and cabinets. Some were small and some were 4 to 5 times larger than the first one in video. Didn't realize how much I loved the work until after I retired. Nice work on that panel and cabinet by the way. Very neat.

I came from the field as a electrical superintendent and instrumentation superintendent and I'm also a instrument tech certified and all and I just got a job in a panel fav shop building large Industrial control panels, electrical panels, instrumentation panels ECT and the first panel they gave me to build and Fabercate was a massive control panel I had to Fabercate the metal enclosed and all from scratch and I have tons of metal fab experience as well. It took me 2 days to do it and they said it was one of the most beautiful control panels they ever seen built every wire tage was perfectly even and straight all the wires ran parallel to each other and perfectly organized and flow in line but the only complaint was on the next one they told me take about half the time cause that looks good showing us what you can do now show us you can do decent work that's good enough but faster as well. Lol nice work man beautiful job. So the next two I did that was identical I did in half the time and they still said it looked to perfect compared to the other guys work and that the customers will want that every time and we can't do that Everytime cause the other guys can't do that good of a job in the same amount of time as you can. Cause I did the next two in a day each it took me and that's how fast they want them done the massive ones is one day per panel and it still looked 1000 times better then any of the other guys in the shops ever foes. I was able to do the other two in half the time and still same quality cause I didn't have to bend and cut all the panels for the enclosure cause they have a few guys that's all they do is cut and bend all the pieces for the panels for us fabricators who weld and and assemble all the panels but the first one they made me cut bend all the pieces for the enclosure myself to see if I knew how to do it in case them two guys call in sick and I gotta make my own pieces or what not. And when he gave me my tig welding test I gave the supervisor two different qualities of the test one looked amazing and one looked horrible and he laughed and said let me guess this one is the 25-30 dollar an hour employee and this one is a 25 an hour and below employee lol and I said yep and he said your hired 35 a hour plus per diem cause I'm from out of state and would need a hotel room for the week then drive home on Friday nights for weekend and I get every Monday off to drive back to the hotel and have the rest of day to rest from the 11 hour drive one way and I get a full weekend with my new wife and newborn son. I'm moving them up there soon once my newborn and first son is done with his therapy and treatments that his current Dr is doing for him for his lungs and breathing problems he had and still has from birth 2 months ago. And the owner of the electrical company I work for that does pannel fabrication he also owns a new and used golf cart dealership with a custom Gulf cart shop all in one and when the panel shop isn't busy he has me go and build custom golf carts since that is what I had been doing for a year before finding this job and I love building custom golf carts and enjoy building electrical panels from scratch so it's like the dream job for me except the drive every time back and forth but it's worth it as long as my son is getting the medical care he needs at the moment is all I care about

Work troubleshooting control panel every day, and let me tell you... that panel looks really good!!
@TDOLLA2 жыл бұрын
so my first ever job believe it or not at age 13 was building control panels under the table in our garage. My dad ran a panel shop and he had this massive quota on one particular panel and he did not have the manpower to build them fast enough. He was having me build some under the table and then he would bring them to work and have one of his guys check it over. He brought home all the materials and he showed me how to do a couple and then I was off to the races. I don’t remember what he was paying me but it was crazy good money for a 13 year old. It was like $100-200 per completed panel. He could build one in about 2 hours but it took me closer to 6-8 hours. But I was making serious cash for a kid. He sat down with a legal pad and wrote out step my step how to build the entire panel- the measurements. where to put the rails. where to mount each component and then what color and where to run every single wire. It AMAZED me he sat down and wrote out how to build an entire panel from memory. I asked him how he did that and he said well, I mean I designed it in the first place. also the ones I built where much smaller than this one. this is a monster

Are you using just double sided tape to hold the cable duct onto the backside of the door? What brand are you using? Unless you can secure the ducting with a screw at my company we are not allowed to use as we have had problems with the tape failing after a certain amount of time, so we have to loom it. How do you combat the tape failing?

Nice job wiring but poor design if those red wires are carrying 220-120VAC. When I build panels, only use 24VDC for controls and anything above 60V gets a relay and it's own section in the panel. If I have to to use 60V or above it will be very minimal. Try to make it as safe as possible for others to troubleshoot or replace parts. I've worked on panels that where a mess with high volt wires and seen some burn up. Nothing worse then digging into someone's mess because they couldn't be bothered to think. Great job wiring on your part.
