In America we call such vehicles doodlebugs, and they were first designed by engineers and mechanics and shown in Popular Mechanix and Popular Science magazines, to be purpose-built for the jobs at hand. Often starting with sedans or coupes, farmers, miners, loggers, lumbermen at sawmills, and construction companies rebuilt cars with the rearends of trucks and often two transmissions to handle the step down in gearing. These kinds of vehicles can be found abandoned of farms and at old mining company towns around America. They were used until bigger more powerful vehicles became available after World War Two.

This truck will be used until a weak spot gives out, then it will be repaired, and used until it fails again.
