For a point and shoot, the entire time lapse to video assembly process should have been done in camera (as an in camera process) after shooting time lapse (result output as a video file). I believe that’s how Canon and most smart phones does it and it seems way more convenient.

Thanks for detailed tutorial. I just wished they already had his within the camera and not need for us to do all this additional process just to completely create the timelapse like what the G7X has. Hope it will come someday.
@MichaelYoungKim4 жыл бұрын
Steeephen probably too much processing power for the little camera to handle. But i hope it can do it some day.
@quatro27324 жыл бұрын
i agree i wish they fix that before the release of the camera its a bummer because its to complicated and i dont even have final cut pro to do that
@Steeephen284 жыл бұрын
quatro27 Actually the software they have for it is not that bad to use but I just really don’t like the additional process like what I said in my previous comment. Honestly I’m not doing time lapse anymore because of it. Haha.
@mkoenig574 жыл бұрын
The rx100's had this processing built into the camera with the Play Memories apps. A shame that Sony decided not to continue doing that, as its lame that a $800 camera wont' process 4K timelapse like many other compacts from Canon, and even cheaper DSLR from Nikon etc. This is a major bummer for this camera, but the other features are excellent

@@mkoenig57 Anyway just consider that the new integrated intervallometer in ZV1 is more stable and with more shots to do than the App...for me better ZV1. If you have a good pc you don't spend a lot of time to produce the video clip 🙂

A very useful tutorial Michael for the Sony ZV-1. I haven't even ventured towards timelapsing with my Sony ZV-1 but I will definitely try this out soon. I wonder what the step is for post-processing in Premiere Pro. Any ideas?

This was so helpful Michael! I am just learning how to use my ZV-1. How do you know what to set your aperture too? Is there a sort of rule for this?
@MichaelYoungKim2 жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful. There is no rule when it comes to aperture. It all depends on how much focus depth you want to have on your time lapse. But having wider depth of field means needing more light. You just have to balance it out for what you need.
@ostarapilates2 жыл бұрын

It's shame the ZV1 doesn't have the processing in camera to turn a timelapse into a video. Great video though...thanks for taking us through the whole process including the edit in both of the software...which I appreciated. Liked and subbed. :)

Great video. Never knew about that software...just downloaded it. Do you normally shoot in jpeg for time lapse or do you use raw?
@MichaelYoungKim2 жыл бұрын
It all depends. If you really want to edit your photos and have the most dynamic range, def shoot raw. But if you want quick workflow jpeg should be fine.

Hi, thank you for your video. I have a question regarding time lapse at night time. Just wanna shoot the stars at with using interval shoot func. and when I turn it on, It doesnt let me make the shutter speed go any higher than 1/4, which makes my photos really dark. Do you know how to solve this problem?
@MichaelYoungKim4 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. The reason why the shutter wont go slower than 1/4 is because you have the shutter set to electronic. Once you change the Interval Shooting to mechanical shutter in the option, you should be able to go lower. Hope I wasn't too late.

You missed a massive step of how to get the photos into viewer. I miss the apps Sony used to make on the older rx100 series, there was a Timelapse app that converted to video. This is so much extra work that makes it almost not worth the effort. Why is some tech going backwards? Now play memories doesn't even work on my MacBook Air for some reason, it comes up with an error saying the developer needs to update their software. This has been an epic waste of my Time, I deem the Timelapse function unusable
