Whoa Nelley, 1963 and it's over for thee. Yes, not a lot interchanges, depends on what it is. Commonality came in later generations as GM realized that there are economies of scale. This car was a beauty when it was new. That paint was probably very shiny and this car was someone's pride and joy for a number of years. It appears to have had a dealer logo on the back, but I can't make out what it said. We got the VIN, we win: 4 for Buick LeSabre, J for 1963 model year, 4 for Fairfax, KS assembly, and the rest is the production sequence, with all full-size Buick vehicles in 1963 having a production sequence starting with zero. The transmission is called a Dynaflow automatic. Yes, 1963 is the last year for the Nailhead series engines. Those seat belts were made by Stein Brothers Manufacturing of Chicago, IL for Sears. The original Fairfax, KS plant that assembled this car closed in 1986 and Fairfax II replaced it and still operates today under GM. We got the tag, we can brag: 06D for the fourth week of June 1963 production, 63 for 1963 model year, 4469 for Buick (4) LeSabre (44) four door sedan (69), BK for Fairfax, KS assembly, 461 for Rose interior trim, X-X for Rose Mist lower and upper exterior paint, and accessory code 2-2 for possible air conditioning. Whoa Nelley, division 4 soon to be out the door. 401 and this one is done. Made in the land of wheat, this one is in defeat. That's it, time to quit. Body code "BK" and going away. Paint code of Rose got a real hose. Going to be flat and that's that. Nailhead soon to be put to bed. Going to get squished and many here, surely Benny and you betcha bottom dollar the Google Man are going to be very, very, very, very, very, very pissed.

Goddammit why do people keep throwing these cars away by sending them to these Junkyards!?!?!? We're running out of classics! They ALL need to be saved!!! If you have money, contact your local Junkyards and ask them to give you first dibs on any classic cars they get. Once they're put in these Junkyards, that's it. Maybe a tenth of the good parts will be saved. The majority will be crushed. These yards don't care. And it seems like the people like me who do care, can't afford to do anything about it. It's a shame. We're losing our history. Our grandchildren will only see these cars in pictures and videos. And maybe museums. But most will never get to see, smell, touch ride in or drive these wonderful vehicles of our past 😢
@HotWheelsBurban Жыл бұрын
Problem is, this being a 4 door sedan, it's not super collectible, like a 2 door would be. Even though this is probably more representative of the cars people drove in the 60s and 70s.... Someone was obviously fixing it up, maybe for a lowrider or cruiser, and ran out of time and money to get it finished. Lots a reasons for that: lost job, storage/garage space, interest, time constraints, the person who was fixing it got sick or died, the town/city they were in or landlord wanted it gone..... It'd be great to save/restore em all, but it's not gonna happen....
@markrudolph683 Жыл бұрын
Maybe that a/c compressor?

Hopefully you can avoid that pesky siren Benny 😅 I'm guessing that the person who wanted to restore this car either ran out of money, lost interest or fell into poor health which is a possibility.

I think you're looking at dead man's car 🚗. Has all the tall tale signs of it. It's worth the time and chance. It looks like it was cold out and paint it and put it back in and is sumption agree that they did something to the engine. Hillman probably died and set in the building and ended up there. Also the bumpers are gold to someone who needed them.
