My favourite dig was the dig from the patreon ad with Carenza. The only ad that makes me smile; it was such a lovely weekend, meeting her in person and all the other great guys from Kiel. Next weekend the results of that dig will be presented in our village.. Greetings from Germany, love your effort to make archeology more accessibly to non-academics.

I'm really happy to see Codnor Castle on the list; I own a small holding about 1/2 a mile from the castle; and this dig is pretty much the best documentation of the site, since it's been ruined both by the mining and farming around it. But of late the new owner has fenced it off and banned people from walking the site at all, a sad tale.

They are not the most soil moved ,most important finds not the most learned, or most exciting, or biggest budget so how are the the biggest digs?? Good digs no argument but we as with the archeologists we need context.

The only problem I had with Mick was his stubborn idea that all history "is a lie" and you can only prove things by archeology. Problem is, you can find buildings (some of the time) people's skeletal remains (some of the time) but for the earth shattering changes that occurred in that time, you have to trust the Chroniclers and historians of the day. I'll give you an example! Supposedly Churchill gave a now famous speech at either Parliment or Whitehall where he "exhorted the Kingdom to fight on!" Makes for GREAT PROPAGANDA but did he actually give the speech? Did the BBC actually steal the speech and the news casters read the speech to the public for morale boost? Or perhaps Churchill WAS going to give the speech and he simply left it in his coat pocket and likely said something a bit more pragmatic? We will never know unfortunately. So yeah, Mick was partly right, bless his stubborn English soul.

You can't use examples of the history of current affairs in modern times, to negate Mick's attitude toward archaeological texts as references of actual happenings. The guy was right to regard them with scepticism. It wasn't stubbornness, 'twas most wise... Viva Lima Perú!!!

I always love how both Mick and Phil share my loathing of that bloated cesspit called London! As for favourite episode, it’s impossible to have just one, I was hooked from the very first and I’m useless at remembering names but the blast furnace one and the lovely one on a magnificent hillside in Dorset with the roundhouse in the garden I find myself watching frequently. I never got into the ones done outside the UK as or me TT is quintessential British at its best. I loved it early on when they came to Teignmouth as I lived in the next town so was able to see them in person.
