If anyone is listening to this song currently, their singer Phil has recently left the band to focus on his full time job. I just wanted to say a thank you to Phil, because this song has helped me through hard times. Phil's amazing vocals have also inspired me to learn to sing. Thanks Phil.

He can..facts
@n0ztic5 жыл бұрын
He can't. He barely hits them in studio. You can hear how he struggles because it's the absolute end of his range.
@nordfald37405 жыл бұрын
@@n0ztic i don't know about live, but i think you're mistaking added distortion on his top-range with "barely being able to hit them"
@n0ztic5 жыл бұрын
@@nordfald3740 That distortion is not added on purpose, it's involuntary distortion coming from him being in the end of his chest/mix range. Try it yourself by singing as high as you can without switching to falsetto. I've been a metal vocalist for almost a decade myself, so it's pretty clear to me that this is not intentional vocal fry (distortion).

One aspect I love about this masterpiece is the unique song structure. Instead of the typical Verse-Chorus-V-Ch-Bridge (Breakdown)-Ch they do Intro-Verse-Chorus-Intro Riff/Verse-Bridge and then end on a Chorus with no breakdown anywhere really (expect in that bridge section)

"Elusive Reasons" Just another day in this messed up world, I delete and rewind For a moment I take in all the silence that's surrounding us Moving on, forgetting about the lives we could be leading While the engines move and the lights still flash I'm staying deaf and blind All within, everything on the outside Like a twist of nature's destined path We seek forgiveness in the arms of our own consciousness I am the one, I am no one So I will live to tell of all these nights I drown in this Will I ever stop believing there is hope for the footsteps we're leaving For elusive reasons we’re all born with a hole in our hearts For elusive reasons we’re all destined to drift apart This is the last chance to escape, my ticket to salvation I can see the light shine through the door, my only way out of here This is the last chance to escape, my ticket to salvation I can see the light shine through the door This is the moment it has finally come and will take me away I move into the light, my only way out of here All within, everything on the outside Like a twist of nature's destined path We seek forgiveness in the arms of our own consciousness For elusive reasons, for elusive reasons So I will live to tell of all these nights I drown in this Will I ever stop believing there is hope for the footsteps we're leaving For elusive reasons we’re all born with a hole in our hearts For elusive reasons we’re all destined to drift apart
