Albedo was refeering to administative manpower. They have too few that they trust to make big decisions
@miragetv17188 ай бұрын
18:25 They originally were thrown in Kyouhukou's room which is filled with many, many cockroaches which ate them from the inside out, repeatedly, to make them absolutely submit to Nazarick. This is what happened to the Eight Fingers which Hilma was and still is a part of.

When they asked Hilma if she wanted some fruit liquor to clean her mouth. Its due to the "baptism" they all underwent. Essentially they were sent to the room of Kyouhukou (the Cockroach king character.) for multiple days as his children would enter their body's through any holes (or made new holes), eating them alive from the inside out. Then they would be healed constantly to ensure they would not die from it. This is also the reason why they are so skinny and sickly looking. After this "baptism", just eating something solid gave them the sensation of the cockroaches moving through their throats, so they would just throw it all back up. They can only eat near liquid food due to the trauma. When Hilma was taken away, the other Eight Fingers assumed she was being taken away to be punished with a new baptism. This is also why Ainz his simple kindness was so effective, as Hilma stated with the carrot and stick strategy. The Eight fingers have lived in pure agony and fear during their time in Narazick, especially with bosses like Albedo who would look down on them and punish them for the slightest mistakes. Then She finally gets to meet the king Ainz Ooal Gown, and he declares she is not only innocent, but also doesn't send her to the cockroach room regardless just to torture her. At that point after all that horror, it must have been as if God descended to save her.

Answering questions: 1:55 This is the new story they are talking about events from book 12 and 13 that will be covered in the movie 3:15 She basically just read his mind, despite not having any actual such power, she is just that smart to be able to figure things like that out instantly 4:00 Definitely not Raven, this "Philip" is the idiot third son of a noble who we met earlier in the season 9:00 No they really do lack in manpower, most of Nazarick lacks either any intelligence at all outside fighting and simple commands (skeletons, Deathknights), or lacks the specific administrative skills needed to manage a kingdom, often lacking any ability to get along with those outside Nazarick at all. 15:35 Remember Ainz's version of Earth was dystopia, and he worked at low level for a major corporation, he has very specific views on dealing fairly with those he employs, but these ideas of fairness due not extend to anyone outside of Nazarick’s influence 16:20 They thought she was sent back to the cockroach room 22:15 He’s off with Tuare, Demiure and Albedo don’t tend to include him in the most messed up schemes that he is going to disapprove of. 29:45 It actually is a similar thought process, and a noble gesture 30:25 Keep in mind the “dick energy” was an intentional misdirect thrown at the audience. He was never as bad as we were led to believe when we first met him so in his case “growth and change” are not so necessary, as revealing to the audience the full nature of the character

But even they can't do everything so albedo has to do all the final work for them.

The reason why old king did what he did: 1. remember that vassalage is out of the question. Nobles would use this to rise up against the royal family, there would be rebellion, as said at the start of episode 2. The king wants to transfer power to his son, but he doesnt want to cause power struggle-abdication is messy if previous king is still alive, there are factions here as we know and not everyone would accept abdication 3. he is classical example of a good king. Good as in-moral, proper, good, virtous. He knows, however, that this is not an asset in this world, in this kingdom. As consequence he was not a proper king, because he was too indecisive, not machiavellian enough. He is aware of that. 4. He decides to offer is own head as way of maintaining kingdoms independence, give his son power (who is better at ruling than he is), avoid rebellion and war with Nazarick, while at the same time being true to his convictions. For him this is win. And 5. yes, he is taking personal responsibility because he knows, deep down that all of this is his fault-debacle of Katze Plains, state of the kingdom etc. The dude wanted to be king in Lord of the Rings, but instead he landed job in Overlord.
@HDApex8 ай бұрын
Great info coming from the King’s perspective. His thought and actions did not translate well when interpreted by the Albedo: When the King says that he was offering his head instead of Philip, means that in the King’s eyes, Philip didn’t do anything wrong and he was directly responsible for the attack. In Ainz’ explanation in the meeting, the one taking charge should only protect their subordinate when they themselves are directly responsible. Hilma wasn’t be held responsible because she did not direct Philip’s actions. So when the King offered his head, it meant as the Re-Estize Kingdom directed the attack against Ainz’ Sorcerer Kingdom. The King declared war on the Sorcerer Kingdom. That is the meaning for the King’s actions, as interpreted by Albedo based on what Ainz just said the Nazarick’s Floor Guardians.

Well... everything was *very predictably* about to go wrong, but he was too stupid to see that.

As for your bit on Ainz's morality, it is probably best described as pragmatic. I feel like a lot of times overlord has these characters which are perfectly reasonable but look bad due to the insane power gap. This is the same kind of analogy that in presented very well in Jujutsu Kaizen where Geto tells Gojo that Geto's idea looks insane only because he lacks power like Gojo to turn it into reality. Likewise in Overlord, Dragons are strong and terrifying but Ainz makes them look like a puppy. Climb is a heroic character, in any battle shounen climb would be very cool who uses his rage and righteousness to face the evil, but here he just looks like a fool who trying pointless attempts at protecting things and getting manipulated. Jircniv is an excellent ruler and leader but I face of Nazarick's power he cant do anything but submit and sulk at the fact that he's so helpless and why has this terrifying thing showed up. Similar logic for a lot of characters. They are portrayed quite normal in my opinion, but look stupid due to the huge power gap.

When Albedo was talking about lack of manpower, I think that she was talking about for governing and administrative duties within the Sorcerous Kingdom. The majority of the undead that Ainz summons are only good for repetitive simple tasks, he also makes lesser elder liches which have much higher intelligence but Albedo has to train them to do the job well on top of doing her own job. Demiurge and Pandora's Actor are the only other guardians who rival her in intellect and capability but Demi is often busy with his own projects which benefit Nazarick and PA is busy in his acting capacity as Momon.

He intentionally attacks Ainz’s carriages with his face exposed, doesn’t kill the driver of the carriage to eliminate witnesses, and does this _knowing_ that Ainz is strong enough to single-handedly annihilate (not decimate, but truly annihilate) an army of over 250,000 soldiers. The attack was so bold that the carriage driver and escort assumed it was Ainz trying to engineer a blatant cassus belli for a new war with the Kingdom. It was so dumb that everyone assumed that Philip was working as Ainz’s puppet. Philip’s plan really was just to steal the grain to try and damage the Sorcerer Kingdom’s economy and sell it off to fill his coffers. In a way, Philip is more dangerous than Ainz. Ainz needs only one super-tier spell to destroy an army. Philip just uses his single brain cell to destroy a kingdom.

11:05 They have the manpower for menial work. Things you can automate, but they are in dire need of administrators. Considering clases are severely restricted for Yggdrasil inhabitants, most of the time they need people from the New World to do several administrative tasks. Or have NPCs from Nazarick have no class advantage managing their land. They need those, as well as several skilled workers and merchants that fled when they took over. So they are low in manpower for the tasks that require thinking instead of mindless work. 27:23 Phillip's plan went something like this: 1. The Sorcerer's Kingdom is using undead to grow crops and driving the price of food too low for me to make a profit 2. We need to stop the "humanitarian aid" shipments that come from Ainz and use the stolen goods to sell them and profit. 3. Profit So, here is how it played out. Phillip: "This is a robbery, give us your goods" Merchant thinks _no one is dumb enough to rob a caravan from Ainz. We have guards that would turn this under-equipped fool to a paste. This guy was the puppet from my boss so maybe there is a plan here._ "Okay have the goods. I guess? The nobles that incited Phillip to steal, (to essentially take over his land once he gets killed) and everyone else: "WHAT?!" 31:22 The king has lost his firstborn, his best friend and military support. His kingdom is going thru a good crisis, but his second son is taking charge and seems to have a handle of things. So he is willing to sacrifice himself because he can't get over the death of his son and the death his friend (that cannot be resurrected no matter how many times he tried). This king handled things idealistically. The movie being out of order hinders the message because from the movie we get shown that ideals mean nothing if you don't have the power to enforce them. Here, the king is powerless to enforce his ideal of not sacrificing his people. It was his ideal approach that stopped him from going the route of The Bloody emperor and purging his nobility to the point it became bloated and corrupt. This is partly his fault. He could not afford to look weak in front of the nobles, so he had to go to war in the Katze plains and his army got massacred because of it. He could not unite his nobles, so every year they suffer from higher and higher food shortages due to the yearly wars against the Baharut Empire because they keep recruiting peasants. He could not force and give a nobility position to his strongest asset Gazef. Take a look at the Baharut Empire's strongest asset, the wizard has a seat of power and the direct ear to the emperor. So the horrific losses in the plains, the kingdom is now facing a food shortage. Because he had to go to that war, because he could not reign in his nobles, because he did not want to be ruthless.

This is a new story - We are seeing 1 of the the many branches happening at the same time. The guy getting drunk is the young aristocrat who put his hand on Albedo. The other guys are other young aristocrats in the new faction. And actually, you did see the Empire trying to do that, when Fludder was trying to control a death knight. They had skeletons tilling a practice field. The manpower she refers to is 'intelligent manpower'. While yes they can summon a lot of undead, the lower rank undead are like what the Workers encountered before, low level and weak. But for other things, does require higher level power. So to note - The Eight Fingers Executives, when they were captured. They were 'baptized' by Kyokuko - The Roach King. You remember him, the creature who had children that were hungry. They were used on them to 'make them submit', also partly the punishment for the whole Tsuare situation. So the executives were asking if she was punished, and she noted she wasn't punished but has SEVERE reverence for Ains now as he was merciful to her for Philip's stupidity. Basically the 'Carrot' vs the stick situation. What's missing in the anime is HOW Philip managed it. It turns out the convoy was escorted by, strangely, members of the Eight Fingers. They were aware of Philip and didn't understand what it was all about, so it literally was a comedy of errors all around.

The type of guy that would rather die than do something embarassing in front of 1m viewers on social media for 1m dollars. A kind soul alone is not really enough to live in a world where Ainz exists. Emperor Jircniv on the other hand is a very logical and cold blooded ruler but with amazing intellect and wit. He acts quick and knows what actions are necessary to achieve the best outcome, therefore allowing his empire to thrive despite being a vassal state. His lack of reasoning in not executing Phillip other than the possibility that he could be innocent was terrible as even Zanac could see that the life of one noble isn't worth more than the lives of the millions of others in the kingdom who'd perish if they'd be pulled into a war with the Sorcerer Kingdom. Even though Zanac was so close to gaining the throne the right way, It was with Ramposa's words here that Zanac realized Ramposa was no longer fit to be king because of his terrible decision making could lead the nation to ruin before even having the chance to be king.

Ainz is neither evil nor good now that he is devoid of emotions he is purely a meriocratic utilitarian punishing Hillma for something she did not do brings him no Benifit and is purely a waste of time and vial violence for no good reason. In Ainzes domain he is working towards ending racism has already eliminated crime, slavery, drug addiction, canabalism, foster attacks and starvation which was rampant before, thanks to undead farmers who do not need to sleep and eat and have replaced hard labor.

Fun fact, when Philip stold the goods, the people that were transporting them thought that it was something so stupid to try to do, that there should be a secret reason for Philip to do it (They knew who he was). So they just left the goods.

And that is how Phillip became one of the very few people to directly attack a very clearly labeled member of the Sorcerer Kingdom and win.

17:02 Ainz was using his experience as a working man. Cygnaeus was fully expecting to be tortured and killed or worse for Philip-kaka's brilliant plan that was beyond her control. 🙂 Satoru/Ainz keeping her from being punished gave her hope since Albedo would not have given the same mercy. By ingratiating themselves to Ainz the 6 fingers hope they will get reasonable treatment in the future. "The VP is a cruel, but if I can appeal to the CEO I have a chance!" 31:22 Jircniv a savvy Emperor offered a noble's head, who he instigated, for offending Nazarick (which Ainz/Demi instigated) but was forgiven. Ramposa III the King of Re-estize. a morally upright thus ineffective ruler, sought to offer his head and let it all end with him. What he failed to calculate was Nazarick's horizon was not just the kingdom but the world. Re-estize was prosperous and protected by the Slane Theocracy so they could fight what Nazarick is when the next Descent of the Gods occurred. Unfortunately, they had it too good that they became insular and prone to in-fighting they could not see the greater world move around them. They did not even realize that due to this failure, the Theocracy was instigating the fight with Empire so they could be replaced as the new champions of humanity. Philip , in all his glory, is a product of his environment. Too bad they skipped his use of The Crane Formation! It would have been epic.🙂

An important detail left out of the anime is that Zanac had been trying to work out a deal with the Council State which has the Platinum Dragon Lord to have an alliance in order to protect themselves from the Sorcerer Kingdom incase this exact situation occurred. But unfortunately for the Kingdom, the alliance hadn't been finalized, and since the kingdom had continually been losing diplomatic support internationally and the Sorcerer Kingdom's letter of war had been endorsed in the public by so many nations, it left Re-estize in the worst situation possible... Ah thanks Phillip, you single handedly put your country in the worst situation humanly possible 👍

Funfact this arc eps 8-13 about 6 episode covering only one volume, it is volume 14. That have a lot of pages that this book can be a deadly weapon. I forgot the exact pages. But almost 600 hundred i think. Normally Overlord Light Novel per Volume only have about 250 pages. Until volume 11 realese and continue with 12,13 then the last 14. Eventho they adapted with 6 episode, it's still have a lot of cut content. Well this is better than forcing it into the movie which only contain 4 episode if you convert into episodic. So atleast it has more content than the movie that will be coming this year.

"A superior should take responsability for the actions of their underlings", and never use that line to punish those beneath him. Seems both Ains and the King agree on that basic principle.

phillip got super cut out of this episode. if his part hadnt be cut they could have easily filled in another half if not full episode with his shenanigans. how he did to get the caravan to surrender to him and his "army". made the caravan merchant panic and overthink situation. was unsure how to approach situation because of contradicting informations and thought phillip attacking was part of 8 fingers intentions, which the merchant was part of, so to not fuck with their moves, he surrendered and let him take all the foodstuffs (caravan was like guarded by 8 finger merchs too) but yah that whole scene interacting with the farmers, merchants and his "allies" nobles would have been a very interesting filler episode had it not been cut....

21:58 Albedo asking if the noble could be that stupid... ... reminds me of Luke's question in episode 2: "Is he a moron?" My reply is the same as back then: Sweet, sweet Albedo, you have no idea. That's the weakness of Albedo and Demiurge, that Ainz involuntarily mitigates: they can hardly understand illogical behavior, they assume that people behave with at least a minimum degree of logic. And Ainz reminds them that people sometimes do something stupid. Very, very stupid.

Philip is definitively the kind of not just worthless, but detrimental noble that Jircniv purged from the Baharuth empire earning him the reputation of being the Bloody Emperor. Which is why Jircniv's a good ruler supporting a meritocracy over a kleptocratic monarchy.

Well, what happens to Hilma now and then, the woman bowing before Ainz is that they had her being eating from the inside out of Grants Children (cochroaches) and then healed up and do it again. That why her friends asked about if she needed to clean her mouth, get a strong stout to forget maybe. (As if you could)

31:22 As my thought, it has two reasons the king propose using his head to gain Ainz's forgiveness. First, he wants his son to heir his crown. Second, this is the most serious offer the kingdom could hand out to negotiate. If it was not the sorcerer kingdom, they might accept the offer.

he wasnt evil, his morale grounds is just not restricted... if there would be a time he need to kill someone even if it's against human justice or morality then that's just proves he isnt bound by rules or customs of the land. And one thing about Hilma is that his feelings of admiration towards his master Ainz is just warped as a result of her being tortured by having her insides eaten by roaches then being healed alternatively.

Hilma when she was first captured was taken to the room with all the roaches where they ate her from the inside out and since healing spells are a thing she never died even though that was done to her repeatedly it actually kinda becomes a little bit of a hazing ritual for the members of 8 fingers because they all go through that Hilma was just the first and led to all the other members getting picked up. Just some info left out of the anime

Something important that was cut from the anime is the robbery itself that Phillip did to the Sorcerer Kingdom's convey of aid. In the LN they actually showed the robbery and it was funny because these two nobles who went along with Phillip that you saw when he was drinking, they did not want to do this at all 😅 they knew it was a bad idea and when the robbery happened, Phillip had his men and they had their own men and the two nobles actually held their men back and told Phillip that he could keep all the supplies because they knew this was a bad idea and they wanted nothing to do with it. One of the nobles even mentioned that they thought the outcome wouldn't be too bad because they think the Sorcerer Kingdom lacks the manpower to annex the entire Kingdom and thought they'd just annex the surrounding lands near E-Rantel instead of taking the entire country. So even these nobles that aren't smart is just infinitely smarter than Phillip 😅

26:30 - the "dragon kingdom" is actually not an kingdom lead by dragons but is mainly a human kingdom somewhere of to the east and south of the baharut empire (gilgamesh-lookalike empire) they made a couple of cameos in the LN but were so far always been cut from the anime. they are struggeling with invasions from the beastman country they boarder on and are asking other kingdoms and empires to send em help. the kingdom is ruled by a halfdragon, a very old queen, who is a descended from one of the actual dragon - brightness dragon lord, who was the original founder of that country too - unclear if she posses a dragon form or not, its described that she can look like a normal adult female, but she usually "chooses" to look like a loli to appeal to the masses, which she seems to greatly dislike. jircniv does mention her once when talking about potential marriage candidates and describes her as an "old hag" she is one of the stronger beings in the world with access to dragon-unique magic which could cause devasting amount of damage to the beast country - but would require millions of souls to power and if runs out of control would be very dangerous to everyone. (for real, for once when someone says that in overlord) she and her kingdom is mentioned a couple more times by other ppl - slane theocracy intending to send retired scripture personal down there to assist em and such. - if season 5 ever comes out, there is a good chance all these scenes might pop up at that point cuz they are more relevant at that point, but will see...
