Sir, You remind me the best of my gradpa. He was always hustling at his garden and orchard , tinkering with stuff, making all kinds of household repairs, making handtools if he didnt havepropper ones on hand. Those were hard times for us ukrainians in "crazy 90`s" , everybody was poor and lived off what he could acquire by his own hands... I feel so much joy seeing your videos in my feed, even though i often dont have time to watch them. You are living in full, Sir. Kindest regards from far Ukraine!

Great to see you working on the guitar Monty! The plain appearance without the green is nice - it looks looks tidy and clean - also different compared to your other guitar builds.

You did not disappoint! You are back. You are a man of your word. Interesting I could only get 360p from your video. But I take you anyway I can get you. ( I know. That sounded funny.)

I would say you have your answer with the shell inlay. That should add sufficient pop to the guitar edge, even with the "just wood" option. :-) The wood is really nice stock and looks lovely, so it should hold on its own. I would leave the back as is with the middle detail as a stand-alone feature to have the impact of that wooden area with one clear, strong detail.

I like your comment. I didn't consider the shell 'pop' and you are right. Thanks!

Good to see you back in the shop and on camera. Jigs and more jigs, can't have too many. God only gave us two hands; we can use all the help we can get. I'd go with a little extra "bling" when it comes to the "look" of a guitar. Sound and structure are very important to the end result of a good guitar. Secondarily, you want a pleasing appearance to attract a person to the guitar. Some colored purfling with the blinding sets it apart from the side and top. As for a kit guitar, my very first build was from a StewMac kit. It came out okay but, with some noticeable problems. Mostly, do to my inexperience and lack of knowledge in building guitars. A series of videos building a kit with enhancements would be great. Happy building, Monty.

It's so good to see your smiling face behind the bench! I'm a fan of keeping mahogany guitars simple, so binding it is my suggestion. Also, the kit guitar idea is great! I made a couple of kits back when Martin was still selling them and they sounded very good. It's a great way for anyone with the inclination to get an inexpensive instrument. I'd even think about doing a water-based finish that anyone could apply.

You are correct on the finish. I tend to lean toward french polish but we'll see.

I would use what you already have, I'm quite self-indulgent. But it's my way of being, I think about the cost of the trip and how much a new binding could increase the final price of the guitar. So I think. Regards

I never even thought of the cost. Plus the green purflings ship from the west coast. You have raised a good point. Thanks.

One of your countrymen TWoodford makes a lot of videos about repairing guitars. No end of subject matter or repairs to video... He's a bit of a snob but rightfully so as his results are of the highest quality. He 'comes off' as a bit of the guitar equivalent of a Stradivari or Amati or Guarneri in the violin makers world... The 'master craftsman's' realm...

Use the black bindings you already have bent. They will blend in very well with the arm rest material you have . Black is a neutral color. The guitar is lighter color so black will accent it very well. As for the back I don't think many people really look at backs for the most part. The front will stand out.
