WTF...a radiator you freaking found in a field ? Too much BS ! I have never had so many problems on engines I have built over the years. Good point for you is this is my first and last time watching your videos. Have a great day.

Just like to inform you that this is not an airport so there is no need to announce your departure. Have a lovely day
@richardgabel3311 ай бұрын
Yes there is a point in announcing a departure. Just the fact you put out content does not make your information informative nor educational. Just the thought of a wing it picking up and freaking using an old radiator makes me wonder why people want to show their ignorance, but you certainly did that today. Nice shop, correct tools, and a freaking mud filled radiator. Get a new radiator and bolt it in place after you clean the muddy water out of the block. When you think you have enough lube on the parts, put on some more !

I had 2 cams wipe out on break in on my all new rebuilt 454. Comp Cam and lifters each time. This last time I used Comp Mutha Thumper cam, but Isky lifters. **Important to check each lifter!!** to be sure they have slight dome in center and chamfers on the edge. Lifter set#3 from Comp did not! Isky did. Now, no problems. Looking forward to more content from ya

People bich about the extra cost of a roller camshaft kit. Well if you add the cost of a roller camshaft kit plus a Summit flat tappet camshaft with lifters and comp flat tappet camshaft with lifters.....your really gonna get frustrated. Lesson learned, go roller. Cant wait to see the firebird do a burnout 👍🏻
@JCSProjects11 ай бұрын
Oh I don’t disagree in the slightest. My frustration is the fact that they can still sell a product (name brand) that has such a high failure rate. The cam manufacturers can blame it on the oil and procedure all they want. The fact is you used to be able to toss a cam and lifter set it. Throw a hand full of dirt into it and idle it to break it in. Now even if you don’t cut corners like me and do everything by the manufacturer recommendations it seems like you still have a 50-50 chance if it failing. Firebird is there. I’m finishing it this weekend.

My friend used to cut corners too and destroyed a nice pair of aluminum,large port, open chamber, L88 heads. He didn’t check deck height. Modding & building cars will be very expensive for you if you keep cutting corners. Always had blocks align honed,deck height checked & chase all threads with a tap. The rusty field salvage radiator was a classic slap sh*t together & pray lesson.

Great effort on that 454. Don’t beat yourself up too bad, the market is flooded with junk flat tappets blanks and trash lifters. Most of us have had a cam or two go flat back in “the good ole’ days” but the past 10 yrs has been ridiculous with garbage being put in fancy boxes with high price tags. I went through a similar bought with my 454 and finally went with a Howard’s Roller. She runs so nice and I can run plain oil without additives:)

You almost need a time machine to get a good cam broken in in a BBC today. Hell. They went flat all the time back in the day. They oil the mains 1st. Makes them super tough high rpm friendly but they don't oil the cam well at low speeds. I've heard of guys adding a spray bar to the system. Right on top of the cam in the lifter galley.
