Funny how games keep hiding behind their "Early Access" title when people start to complain, the game was fine a few years ago, but then they started doing weird shit.... What's that saying again? "Don't fix something that's not broken", for instance, the new zombie spawn system is ass compared to the old one.... We are bitching for a reason... SCUM was going in the perfect direction, this was the only game I was playing. We complain because we want the game to be better, not to hate on it.

Based on current activity on servers, pvp is dominating Scum. I want survival. I've made a post in general discussions on steam. Not gonna repeat it here, it's too long for that. I love playing Scum. But I have no clue where this is going. They advertise as a complicated long-term survival game which is not the case by far. It became easier and easier lately. That concerns the inner survivalist in me. And more fans of survival genre are taking a break. While those are the original group of players they advertise for. We want survival, yet they come with dlc's, charms, new guns/weapons, removing improvised stuff etc. I doubt people hate them for that, but i think people are fully in their right to start wondering what exactly are we supporting here?

The arcady movement and ridiculous emphasis on cartoonish bases from defenses to raiding is really what gets me. Something about the map is so terribly lacking and dull and the scale is just off. I don’t find myself wanting to take things slow between POI to just take in the scenery like I do in dayz. There’s no reason to either, animal spawns are just as odd as their behavior. Using any long range gun is a trivial joke bc there’s magic measurements in every scope. This game is suffering from an identity crisis paired with an engine at its limits. This game and these devs show so much potential but it’s always 1 step forward 2 steps backwards with the bizarre decision making.

Bugs, glitches and things like that I will never complain about in a EA game. What I will complain about is paying nearly 50 bucks and then the game taking a drastic turn from a " hardcore realistic survival game" and turning it into a arcade zombie shooter. It's not about early access issues for me. It's truly a terrible spawn system that changed the core of what the game was for 5 years. I like the dlc stuff, it pays for development. I understand the bugs etc. What I don't like is such a cheap junk spawn system which makes the game an arcade feeling zombie looter shooter. I bought a survival game and isn't a survival game, it's a zombie looter shooter. Nah dude scum is NOT an open world survival game, people need to stop with that bs. It's a zombie looter shooter. Food, water and shelter are literally given to you in scum. How is it survival when the 3 core real life challenges are handed to you? It needs to re lable it's description.

Is it the final version??? How many times does it have to be pointed out to you that the game is in EA while you admit that it is at the same time? The frequency of food or any other item is in the same pile as bugs. Even when the game is released, this isn't a dev that just gives you whatever and tells you to stfu. They listen to the community. Instead they are still working on how the puppets spawn (and doing a terrible job). They even took all the vehicles away more than a year ago now, where are the vehicles?? 😆They are breaking things faster than they are releasing new content. At this pace we will enjoy the full game by the year 2040...

I don't like the spawn system so I turned it off and there is no reason to do anything because the survival elements are given to you without any effort. That is why I can't call it a survival game. The only think you need to survive is the zombies.

Ground spawn could be more like this. You are a prisoner, right? Why not be escorted in the game in a special vehicle where someone takes you off from that platform you are stuck to in the character creation. Then they are laughing and wishing you good luck to survive on the island before they leave

As much as I enjoy the game I always thought the basic idea wasn't about survival or pvp but escaping the Prison. This is still a work in progress so I expect changes good and bad. I have been following your tips and updates regularly these past few years from when I first started at release. A direct channel to talk to or message the Developers would be a great idea!

One answer to what you are talking about with bed spawns is to make it more expensive to spawn on a bed/camp that is NOT inside your flag area. Like one gold bar to spawn on a bed at your base, and ten if it's outside your flag area. Would people still do it outside their flag, yes... but at a cost of 13k-ish each time per person it makes that raid very expensive.

Running a server as an admin, you really feel the annoyance of players, as they end up blaming admins for what the game is. We work our butts off trying to balance things for people, so when the game changes we have to quickly scramble to figure out the new settings and how best we can adjust things. Ultimately there's enough players that can't understand how things work, so they end up putting all the blame on admins and leave for another server, but they will never find what they're looking for because those players ultimately just want to have full god mode. I think scum players want things easier and easier, with only 1% that want hardcore. It's gotten to where no one actually expects to do any survival gameplay, as they expect to find a vehicle in an hour, hiking backpack, etc. and so forth. You'll never be able to make everyone happy, but the majority of players I see that play PvE, want it so easy that it's not even a challenge.

The only thing I have a problem with is the ridiculous DLC's for things like hair styles, those should just be included as thanks for supporting the game for players. The character DLC's are one thing but the others are just wrong to charge the customers for these.

Ok RayKit, so firstly you need to understand that the reason people complain is because they are passionate about something and they want the game to be succesfull, but we are also tired of all the BS from the Dev's. Calling it bitching from both you and the Dev's is just disrespectfull towards us that also spent money on the game, etc. You might not agree, but unfortunately this is fact. Something should also be said about servers, I do not understand the fact that they hold on to the server files for so long, I mean if your defending the fact that a SCUM server costs $49.99 p/m ,while the game itself is 39.99.(At least that's what one costs from the only server provider for my country). I mean I rent a ARK server with 30 slots for $15. Saying that they do not want the files because they are scared of hackers is just crazy, there are multiple KZbin channels dedicated to catching SCUM cheaters out there, proving that cheats already exist.

Hey Chris I couldn't agree more. I've also been around since release.. I have a question though. Have you heard if they will release server code that can be run from SteamCMD once they release 1.0? I have an i7 10700k dedicated workstation with nvme and lots of ram just sitting here with a 1gbps connection. I would love to run the server locally like I do with Icarus and some other games. I just rented a test server to mess around with configurations and all. Am hoping that they decide to let us run the servers locally.. Thanks for all the content man.. -Gafleg

Wise words. I agree on the spawning aspect, and one thing I would still like in the game, which I think they went in to the right direction with bolts/nails, is better metal crafting. Smelting, casting etc.

I agree with the things you take up. Players always complain no mater what is being done to or in a game. I have listned to them for years as an admin for private servers. Any time the game change players complain. Only complaint I have is that my prissonpocket don't work. Was the best part of donor pack..

I am stupidly excited for what Gamespires have coming, quests and NPCs especially. I want to see NPC patrols around the map, randomly bumping into an armoured patrol would be EPIC! 100% agree with what you are saying about supporting the devs and the DLC, these guys are incredible and I am really looking forward tot he next 5 years to see what they do with Scum. I am impressed with what they are offering for DLC, there is nothing in there that gives any significant advantage to players, no "buy this gamebreaking weapon" type thing as you tend to find in a lot of mobile and MMO games. I play PvE so the base raiding stuff doesn't really interest me though I might have to give it a go in the near future, I can't wait for them to improve the modular base building stuff though.

If you take away bed spawning from raiding, it’s gonna be impossible. Because as the raider you have 1 life then you need to walk back fully equipped. While the defenders can just jump out of their base try to kill you and if they fail they just respawn. Obviously it’s not realistic but for the fair you need to be able to spawn at raids otherwise there’s only gonna be offline raiding. So what you wish for would kill the raiding

The game isn't designed to be fair. If you're raiding then you shouldn't have the advantage of spawning back every time and allow the defender to defend. Its different for everyone but the raiders need to assess the risk. They're the ones who want to raid.

They should have change spawn system as you said, fix it to beds and bedrolls and add extra settings to servers, ie. no raid hours, non pvp time. Really, I know it's learning curve but they should maybe start learning from competitors like rust or conan exiles...

The Encounter System seems to have been fixed enough that Scum feels normal again. I do, however, have the Horde System effectively deactivated on my server. I think the window vaulting and door bashing already brings a natural horde experience if you just bump the puppet numbers up. I would like to see the encounter system spawn a shambling group of puppets in the same place, depending on how many puppets are already active on the server. Then natural player noise could trigger them or the player could gun them all down or frag them all at once.

Scum is 1 of the games that I play that doesn't force to buy things. With almost 4000 hours playing Scum I will support Gamepires any way I can. The one thing I would like is the ability to purchase Scum merchandise .

It is as if you are completing the Scum game using the Dayz game, and this analogy weakens the position of the Scum game. The Dayz game is many times stronger in gaming experience than the Scam game. That wasn't smart. I also love the game SCUM, but they must remedy the situation. They must focus on the playing experience, not meaningless additions, and they must listen to the community. I like your passion for the game, and I love it too.

I don´t know why DLS´s are a reason to b*tch around,.... there is none DLC which could be considered as pay to win,... you can even paint weapons and vehicles without DLC which means devs have implemented a new feature for ALL of us. Are there bugs right now? Yes, of course but bugs were also in version 0.9 and it was nothing which is game breaking. There are also missing features (more BB elements and so on) but we have to be patient. But there are some concerning problems: - New Spawn System No matter how much we love the game, we have to be honest and the new puppet spawn system is just bad. To be clear,... this is not a bug, this is something which was implemented and it works the way it should. This will not be fixed but devs will add a bunch of even more settings and in the end it will be living hell to adjust the spawn system to some level which is hard but playable. I consider a hard (not hardcore) server somewhere around 5x puppets but with the current spawn system this is not playable without being cheesy and using exploits. - Quests It depends how quest will be implemented but what are quest going to change at all? What will be the reward? Items? Fame points? After playing a week you have enough fame points and money to buy everything from trader,... this raises the question what will quests bring us? Quests should come up organically which means,.... if you want to loot a certain POI you need to prepare first and therefore you need to find XY items before. Different POI´s should give us different types of items. What´s the difference between A2 and B4 Bunker? There is none,.... you have the same chance to find the same items. - NPC´s NPC´s will be probably connected to the quests,.... like: Take item XY from NPC A at POI B. From a server performance side view I do not think that TEC01 NPC´s will patrol around the map. I do not see how this will bring the game forward. - Strong focus on PVP There are many features for PVP purpose,.... vehicle armor, BB elements, variety of weapons an ammo, dial lock, bcu lock and so on. So much focus on PVP without balancing PVE will transform the game into something similar to Escape from Tarkov. PVP should be an option and should serve a purpose but not be the main part of the game. Here is a good example: If you want to raid a base you need to prepare for it (screw drivers or explosives, weapons and ammo) which will take some time. Now guess what,... if your raid is successful you will gain the same weapons and ammo which you already own. Now you can sell it and you will have more money and that´s it. If you save the time preparing for your raid you could loot bunkers and POI´s and you would have almost the same result. In order to bring the game forward the PVE part should be way more challenging. Vehicles should be nerved that there is a real risk of losing them besides driving with 100 kmh into a tree. Vehicles should need more maintenance which could be done at the traders for money. Looting should be connected to the awareness skill (focus mode) which could give you a hint if some crates are empty or not. Metabolism should take more effect on the character and death should be more punishing. Loot should be spread over the map in categories, this way you have a reason to explore the whole map.

Zombies should not appear where a player can see them appear. They should not rise out of the ground from thin air either. The spawn system needs to take into account where a player is, and what their line of sight can see. I think footfalls of zombies should be louder. Not being able to control spawn for the wildlands vs the towns makes things weird, because now nothing makes sense. Imagine that there's more zombies in the town vs the wilderness, or more in the wilderness and less in town. There's challenge in either experience, but if they just spawn magically around players, it turns into just... nonsense. It's not really survival, it's more like an arcadey type of gameplay at that point.

People are going to bitch and complain no matter how good or bad a game is. But as 1.0 gets closer , missions and npc's are going to change everything. Going to a POI and you have ai shooting back at you its going to draw attention even more. Not to mention you have to worry about puppets and players as well. Its going to good.

Look idc about the dlcs being put in I have played scum since the start and have logged over 2.5k hrs what I can't stand is when new things are put out and completely break the game in a stance I can't play it like the new horde system is completely busted and I want it fixed or reverted I can't stand puppets spawning out of nowhere on me before I used to be tactical say just approaching a gas station kill beepers and clear fill up gas loot station now its well let's go risk getting blown up by a random beeper spawning on me and things like this makes me worry about the state of the game I purchased with my money and I love and whats to come for it so should I be able to rant and piss an moan about such things ya it's feedback it may not be feedback the developers want but that's a part of being early access hopefully things get better cuz I miss the way alot of things used to be thank you ray for being real and that's all I tend to do aswell

First of all I have to say that I love SCUM. It is the game I have been waiting for a long time. Once you understand my context. I am quite "angry" at the direction SCUM is taking. Obviously I'm not angry with the devs, nor with the people or anything, just angry to see that the game that I consider the best I have at the moment, is taking a direction that I don't understand why. We can start with the downgrade of the graphics ( no, not optimization, downgrade ) Optimizing something is when for example you have a distribution chain to send a box to a user, and instead of 100km you get it in 20km and finally deliver that box to the user. If what you finally deliver is a piece of cardboard so that it can make the route of 20km, you have not optimized anything, what you have done has been a full-fledged downgrade. The pop in, the shadows, the lights, the distance of drawing of the grass, the ground textures and a long etc... if you compare it with previous versions, at the moment it is worse by a lot. We have more powerful PC's now, but the game looks blurry when before not, outside the 10 meter radius from the player, the pop in zone appear... lod distance is reduced a lot compared to previous versions, etc... Another thing, in the past they gave you options to configure the server (single player in my case) to your liking, now they force you into certain configurations. For example the traders, when they were implemented you could choose if you wanted them or not. Now they are mandatory. The new spawns, instead of adding an option to be able to configure them and leave them as they were before 0.95, or similar, if we are now forced to use this new system, but not. Now they force you to use this new broken system. Instead of being able to configure the distance at which they appear to correct the feeling of running around in an empty world, because now the world is EMPTY, is the player that makes the spawn appear. Instead of that, they force you to use a limited configuration. The hunting... the animals... the birds... everything is forced. Instead of letting the user decide through configuration whether we want them or not. (they are heavy resource consumers, ok let me try it, maybe my computer can handle it!) And I don't want to enter how arcade is turning Scum.... I could go on, but I will leave it here because I do not want to extend it any further, but being objective and seeing all this, one wonders where SCUM is going? I think you get the idea and the reason for my "anger".

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE scum and I have several thousands of hours in the game. However, the fundamental mechanics of the game are broken. After 0.95, I couldn't convince myself to keep playing (along with many many others) simply due to the way puppets spawn and the server options that control those spawns. (those literally do not work btw) the only thing in the game that seems to work right now is pvp. Single player and pve are a horrendous experience for the player right now and this is not my off the wall opinion, go online or in the reviews and you will know exactly what I mean. The previous system before 0.95 was perfectly fine, it even let us adjust interior/exterior/wilderness spawns and puppets would be roaming the streets of towns and poi's out of view distance. Sniping was viable, binoculars had a function, there were sleeping puppets in houses which was fucking awesome, you could stealth around and loot without a massive horde randomly spawning (in front of your eyes) even though you were hardly making any noise at all, you could clear rooms and bunkers out and when you turned around to leave you wouldn't have to sweep the same rooms you just cleared not even 50 seconds ago, etc It was INFINITELY better than what we have now. I didn't notice an improvement in performance after the update either, so it is bad in all scenarios no matter how you frame it. I uninstalled shortly after 0.95 and until its back to the way it was prior or better I refuse to touch the game again. If they want to slowly chip away at the pve player base until there is nothing left, that's entirely on them. I am not listening to any more excuses, the players have made their points clearly on reviews and forums so whatever the devs do is entirely up to them, they are more than aware of the primary issue.

I did stop playing the game in 2021. I could not bear anymore Sector Respawn and red dot on the map. Kill someone and have him back on the spot 5 minute later is so bullshit I had to quit. Anyway, I defollowed you time ago because your smash this and smash that channel promotion attitude but hey, an enemy of my enemy (Sector Respawn) is my friend so here me back.

Having all the DLCs is just a bad look and in the end you will push the pricetag to the front and your game's costs will be compared to other game's costs and then more people might go "well this other game is just 85% as cool, but it costs only 25% of it...". Problem is, the game is making more and more of it's features useless. With the new bunkers they made all firearms useless. I hear firing anywhere now spawns zombie hordes too, so having any firearm at any time seems to be a bad idea now. What for did they spend hundreds of hours putting all of them in the game? Makes zero sense. The best loot is so concentrated, that building outside of a very few spots (like near Navy Base) makes zero sense if you want to be competitive. Waste of dev time to have built the whole map. Loot in the radiated areas is good, but simply not worth the effort, so basically the radiated areas are just areas of the map that nobody uses. Waste of dev time. The islands already make no sense. No good loot on them and the need to find a boat whenever you want to leave. Waste of dev time making them. Etc.pp. Scum has massive potential on paper, but in practice the devs never thought about what it should be, because they are constantly implementing things that make other things they developed useless or are useless in of themselves. Like the hunting update. It was BS from the start. It took random danger out of the map and made getting meat a lot harder. Additionally having just 1 big plot to farm gives you so much food, you never have to pick up any food outside your base ever again. The cooking update was the next massive waste of time. Cooking is super complicated and has zero benefit over eating raw vegetables from your farm. Changing the cars... massive waste of time. They worked fine. Repair kits were an issue that could have been fixed another way. There is very few people playing the game still and even the most hardcore people I know have stopped now. If they can't read numbers... well their bad luck.

Sounds like a you problem, the devs are well aware of the issues, and offer most of the updates for free. You can't expect people to develope games for free, this isn't the console gaming era where games are released and see no future updates. You're entitled and your comment was a waste of time. The devs have already acknowledged the issues you present, and do the best they can to improve their game, using THEIR labor. @@smoov5046 No, I don't regret spending the money. I played the game for 1366.4 hours in a very short time. I was a hardcore player. I bought the weapon skins DLC too, even tho I knew I'd likely stop playing soon with the direction the game was going (I played like 3 times after I got that). I'm disappointed that the huge potential the game has, is being wasted. I have no idea how my comment says "you feel entitled to the devs free labor". You need to read it again because it obviously says the exact opposite! I said the devs should value their time A LOT MORE by having a plan and not wasting time on things that they will have to pull back (like hunting from what I hear) or will unintentionally make useless (like most of the map, firearms, cooking, etc.). But I can see that you are as short sighted as the devs seem to be, because if you talk like that to people with objective critique, then don't wonder when you'll be playing the game alone.

@@TheBazino Some of what you said about the loot, that's up to server owners or yourself on how the settings are situated. Our settings are set where we can go in and out of the bunkers without hordes popping up all the time or the Razors dropping. That's a preferential setting. In the first supporter pack DLC, it gives you a script of the game. And guess what? Seems like they have a clearly laid out plan of what they planned on doing with the game. I just think a lot of people probably paid that part no attention when they got the DLC. On your comments around food, eating different foods does have an impact. If you're not fulfilling your vitamin requirements, guess what? Your performance can take a hit, you're always using the bathroom, or you're needing to eat more frequently. Yes, you can eat just vegetables, but there is an effect to that. Early concept art has been laying out the direction of this game from the beginning, it's possible you didn't see it or don't follow that aspect of the dev's sharing their inspiration for the game and what they might and possibly would be implementing. Yes, the game is buggy, but as RayKit said, early access comes with these issues. Now if 1.0 comes out and they haven't resolved most of the main issues, then I believe most complaints become valid. -Streetz

But your opinion doesn't like up with the fact that everything you mentioned is their attempt to improve the game, for free. If this were already a released game AND they would still bring patches and updates THEN that part would be free. What they've agreed with us tho is: "Here, you can buy this now already, even tho it's not actually done yet and play it to give us feedback during us finishing it" - and they aren't actually listening to feedback from the majority, but a tiny, tiny subgroup of people, otherwise things like hunting and cooking would not exist (in this way).

Early Access. Players complain no matter what. You should just buy the DLC and do more to support the game. Do not focus on the game itself and the ongoing 5 year process of updates that break more than they fix (Before and After Jagex). If you really want to compare Dayz to Scum the number of people playing the games tells you which game is better for the players. Dayz has 3 times the number of players that Scum has currently. Scum is not losing players because the players are complainers, they are losing players because they don't have a game they want to play.

I'm going to be 100% here. Honestly were Tired of the excuses, they know what they need to do and have the resources to do it. They are either too cheap and lazy to get it done are are out of their league with this. The don't have much time before a competitor comes along and over shadows them or they are replaced entirely. Seriously were are the NPC's at this point! There are ZERO Excuses at this point. They have teased Tech 1 and the shapeshifters for a long time and have NEVER delivered on it. And No the bunkers don't count. And what do we get by bringing this up, "Early Access with some BS attached. "Early Access" doesn't work as anymore this game has been out since 2018, its 2024 stop with this BS its been 6 years. Seriously they need to stop bait and switching and deliver. Seeing as they lack the talent to do it the need to swallow their pride and ask for help from the company that bought them. Or they can wait and be replaced. People want PVE, enough of this PVP battle royal garbage, its dead stop looking for it. We are tired of waiting.

The game has always been pretty great and the discord server for them is great as well i was having a problem with running the game and a nice women by the name of Nik spent not all of her time but a good chunk of her time trying to help me figure it out and as for the game its tons of fun and been playing it from AUG 2020 till now and it jsut good fun only problems ive had are on my end like i live out in the boonies so i loose my connection all the bloody time

That's exactly what I wanted to hear, so tired of all the whining. with spawning in the air isn't that annoying. The solution is to have a hood over your head and for the parachute to open when it gets further down to the ground. section spawn is annoying for many re-spawn all the time. so the solution is to have section spawn in the outpost instead. because when assignments come, it becomes easier to redo the assignment again.

i mean scum is so underrated and i dont know why people is not realizing it. i tried dayz and scum and my realization is scum is better in terms of development and future updates it has alot of features which basically throw dayz in the edge. i hope scum will be top on the leaderboards someday, im still sticking and watching at the development of the game. i hope they will make it better and mainstream please scum lol

SCUM Is gonna be huge come 1.0 I told the devs early on retain full creative right's Don't lose control of your game. to be honest I think it will be at lest 1.3 - 1.5 before we see Scum in the base state it should have been upon release. 1.0 will release with some missing features that will come in pretty soon after it's 1.0 release. Gamepire have stuck though it unlike Dead Matter and The Day Before, etc. I think my biggest concern with Scum now is boxing/punching and Melee, I really hope something is done with Melee combat (that's before i even ask about martial arts and weapons) before 1.0 but wouldnt not be surprised if that's a features that's reworked or updated shortly after 1.0
