I noticed that Swedish is very similar to Dutch and German in some ways, for example: the 'hiss sound' and the kind of "flat" pronunciation of words 'slott' can also mean 'castle' in Dutch but just with one 't' the fact that a strawberry literally translates to 'earth geezer' when in Dutch and German that's 'earth berry' 'orange' in Dutch is 'sinaasappel' (tho in german it's 'Orange') which is kind of similar to 'appelsin', just flipped

@@1nt9rn9t-dudewillheim2 yes they are, though Dutch and German are West Germanic and Swedish is North Germanic, which is why Dutch and German sound quite similar but Swedish isn’t very similar (at least in pronunciation). Only Frisian (from the north of the Netherlands) sounds a lot like Swedish

Ike accidentally spelled "Apelsin" wrong, but for a good reason. In Swedish "Apelsin" is pronounced as if it is spelled as "appelsin" (the distinction between a "short a" and a "long a" is signalled by the repetition of the following consonant), thus the confusion. Considering that Ike had to juggle two to three languages in his brain at all times, I don't blame him at all. 💙🇸🇪 I hope this helps!

note on the "jordgubbe" part we also say "jorden" when refering to the earth as a planet. jord by itself is usually refered to the ground/earth, and also when we go out and buy soil we refer to it as "jord" too id personally call "jord gubbe" an old soilman in the literal sense lol "gubbe" is usually a term for old man, usually used in a derogatory manner (kinda like ojisan), but it can be used in an endearing way, such as "little dude" we could say "lilla gubbe" and fun fact: pippi lonstocking's horse is called lilla gubben (the little dude)! :D also i like how ike can (probably) spell long words correctly, but can't spell apelsin lmaoooo

As much as I love hearing someone speak Swedish, the pronunciation triggers me at the same time. I speak Swedish, it's my native language, but I'm not from Sweden. I'm from Finland and we speak finno-swedish (Finlandssvenska). It's the exact same grammar, we just pronounce words differently. In my opinion, finno-swedish is easier to pronounce than Swedish. However I am happy when someone speaks Swedish because you don't hear it much on the internet.
